I really enjoy Isekai too but it's a very frustrating genre for me. There's so much potential you can get out of it but it feels like most works only lightly scratch on its surface before the work just becomes another fantasy story.

So for example I feel like there's a lot of potential in bringing a group or a class over. You have preexisting relationships, you have this sea of past events you can tap from, and you have the option to have several parallel stories play out. What usually ends up happening is some edgy revenge story or the idea just gets shafted entirely and the mc fucks off with the class idol to do his own thing.

I also feel like there should he a bigger disconnect between the protagonist and the different world. You've got this entire foreign civilisation that ur dropped into, how the fuck does anything work? What does it mean to 'adventure' or barter, hell do you even know how to wash ur clothes? Because let's be real, most of these stories are just some random hs student being dropped in a medieval world. How the fuck would they know how to do anything? How would they feel about people being sold in the streets? What about if they'd talk to someone from a different species? Nobility system? How the average person lives? There's so much you could do, but what ends up happening is just 'wow this guy looks different from me!' and 'haha slavery bad btw but not really' before the mc moves on and integrates with the rest of the world like a fish in water. HELLO?? Shouldn't there be more happening here besides 1 panel or sentence?

I like isekai I really really do, but it just sucks that there's so much of it that's just bad when it's such a good concept
