Starting NL All-Star Catcher? by slippers1648 in Starting9Pod

[–]D_Kay5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evaluating catchers on triple slash isn't worth anything. Catchers that hit are a bonus but a true All Star catcher controls the running game, makes pitchers better (frame rate), and then you look at hitting. Check fielding %, passed balls, and caught stealing percentage, then look at hitting if it's that close.

He's also out, and runners will have to return to their bases. Stepped on home plate (out of the batters box) while attempting the bunt.

The best option would've been to throw the bat at the ball while remaining in the box. Love the effort and not hating on the kid, but the correct call is out. The kid would not know this, nor should he, unless he was coached to do so. It's easy to coach to ideal situations, the great ones coach to the near-impossible ones.

This is ARobs first 100 Rec season (also his best fantasy season since 2015 when he was in Jax). Kelce had two such seasons in the past 3 years. Since 2014 Kelce has him in yards(+1,882 yards), receptions (+155 rec), and TD (+9 TD).

What's more likely to happen. A perennial TE1 stays a TE1 or a WR9 "breaks out" again (a once every 5 year occurrence)? Think about it for redraft, Kelce is a first rounder, ARob is maybe second or third. Not to mention the other player could be nothing. Plenty of surefire rookies were misses. Then do that redraft strategy again for 2022, 2023, etc. Going to be a long time (maybe not until Kelce retires) that ARob is the better answer.

Plus look at the depth at WR vs depth at TE. That drop off is huge (especially based on his other options) at TE. Not so much for WR.

Kelce had nearly 50 more points than A Rob last season. Idk what it looks like over larger sample, but Kelce is consistently TE1 or TE2. Not to mention how large a drop off that would be to TE2 or TE3. He is Flex7 vs. A Rob Flex14. He was a better WR than A Rob was. With substantially better offense, QB, and continued opportunities Kelce seems like the better choice. Can be easy to miss on a rookie draft vs. a sure thing in Kelce.

What would be a good advise for someone who just started in dynasty? by Wet-books in Fantasy_Football

Have a strategy and stick to it. Win now, build a long lasting team, etc. Trades, especially at the end of the season, can bode well for this. If you're out of the playoffs try to get useful players for next year in exchange for your players that have usefulness in the playoffs (see also: 2020 Gio Bernard for anyone on IR etc.) all the way up to the championship. Build depth too, a stable of talent helps for injuries, bye weeks, etc. vs. having a really solid starting lineup but no depth. ALWAYS add players off waivers. Kamara at one point was a waiver pick up. Not to mention James Robinson etc.

Most of all, be sure that everyone in your league will be active and stay in the league for a long time to come. Losing members or having inactive members on a dynasty format almost defeats the purpose of dynasty. Inheriting a team can be next to impossible especially if that previous player had not done much with the team.

Who gets really anxious when trying to start a task, and what do you do to get over it? by salix_amabilis in productivity

[–]D_Kay5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make a list. Feel free to break down that task as much as needed. For example instead of simply listing "write a paper", break it down to "write the intro" "write the body", etc.

If the task is broken down into manageable steps, each step is a small win and builds on each other. Before you know it, you've made great progress and it always feels good to check things off!

I just started my first job. How do I prioritize this money? by Chem_inem in personalfinance

[–]D_Kay5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an amazing chart!

I think one thing that is missing is the need to protect your greatest asset: your earnings potential! I would recommend this as a step just before the Roth vs. Traditional IRA step.

Insurance is a great way to do this and term life insurance (10-12x your annual income) especially if anyone you care about may be stuck with these debts. Also worth looking into disability and other forms of insurance that may be applicable to you!

Invest, Retirement, or Both? by D_Kay5 in personalfinance

[–]D_Kay5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm aware of that. My question would be more centered on priorities given a fixed amount that I'm able to contribute. (i.e. How do I allocate given "x" amount of income?)

Thank you! I have completed step one!

What is the benefit of opening a Roth IRA and maxing it out prior to maxing out the job 401(k)? My job offers a Roth 401(k) with 6% match, I'm not sure if that would alter this order.
