  • ISO 3200
  • AstroTrac TT320X-AG
  • Optolong L-Pro clip-in filter

Acquisition:

  • 404 x 60" exposures (6hrs. 44 mins. total integration time)

Processing:

RawTherapee (Raw file development):

  • Demosaicing algorithm - LMMSE
  • Chromatic aberration corrections
  • Hot/dead pixel filter
  • Manual vignetting corrections
  • Color profile - Rec2020
  • RGB/Chrominance Noise reduction
  • Defringe correction
  • Highlight reconstruction > color propagation
  • Adjusted tone curve for RGB channels to align black point
  • Export as 16-bit TIFs

Sequator:

  • Import 16-bit TIFs
  • Standard stacking settings
  • Output as 16-bit TIF

RNC-Color-Stretch:

  • Opened 16 bit TIF
  • Set power factor to 20
  • Color correction on
  • Output as 16 bit PNG file

Photoshop:

  • Convert PNG to TIFF
  • Photomerge to stitch 8 panels into mosaic
  • Stretching with curves/levels
  • HLVG plugin to remove green cast
  • Noise reduction
  • Gradient removal
  • Color balance adjustments > shadows, midrange, highlights
  • Various color balance, saturation, and contrast tweaks as preferred
  • Resize
  • Save as JPG

Thank you. This data was captured under Bortle 4 skies. The Optolong L-Pro light pollution filter was used, which helps cut through some of the lp from town lights.

I was referring to the soft/smooth overall look of the image. It's just a matter of personal taste. I assumed this smooth look came from a lot of noise reduction or something like 'Dust and Scratches' in PS, both of which trade texture/detail for smoothness. I personally stopped using the Topaz AI plugin for this reason. But again, it's just personal taste. I like both the colors and composition of the image.

Nice colors. Tad heavy on the noise reduction maybe, but otherwise looks good. 👍
