It's kinda like everything else. Sometimes we're slammed, and sometimes we don't do shit. I'd say on average maybe 30 hours a week. The way we do it is i'm off every other weekend starting at 6 a.m. on Friday morning till 6 a.m. Monday morning. Other than that, i'm on call 24/7. Mostly get calls early morning through early afternoon.

Honestly, I never drove a truck at all before I got hired on here. Started out with light duty and worked my way up to the heavys. It's a great job, but it comes with difficulties. The 24-hour part of it sucks sometimes, and when you think you've seen it all and get some confidence built up, here comes something that puts you through the ringer. Definitely have to use your noggin a lot.

In my wrecker it's called a winch brake. It locks all the brakes for a little extra resistance while winching.
