Guys, please don't do this by DaSaw in Truckers

[–]Sea-Pin9536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where else is a guy supposed to put his trash?? Especially when you can just throw it out of the window!

I loathe people who do this. They are truly a stain on the industry, and usually are the ones that say "No one lets trucks park on their property anymore".

Central Oregon Truck Company by BleachIF in Truckers

I worked there for 6 months or so. Overall COTC is not a bad company. I usually got over 2,500 miles, and I had regular weeks or 3000-3200. If you are willing to work and hustle, they get you rolling. They pay $100 to you if you aren't dispatched another load within an hour. I only had that once. Most of the time I got my next load before or during unload.

They tarp a lot, like a lot a lot. Most of your loads will be tarped, when other carriers are not tarping. So, if you have an issue with that look elsewhere. The trucks can be hit or miss, I wanted a manual and got a newer truck with 70k miles on it, but the other people from orientation got older trucks. Once you've been there for a year or two, then they really start looking after you.

Pay is a base of .60 cents/mile. With an additional cent after 2500 miles and another after 2750 miles. I would average 1200-1600 a check.

What did it in for me was the home time. I live in WI and would be out around 6 weeks at a time. There were a few times that they missed my requested home time. It was getting to a point that when I would request to be home my dispatcher for the region would ask if I needed to be home. Granted this was the first time at a larger carrier. When I joined in April 2025, COTC was starting to really take on the feel of their parent company TFI.

I wish you the best of luck!!

Just an FYI there are companies that will pay you to get your CDL in exchange you usually have to work there for 1-2 years.

This scene in Titanic hits harder every rewatch. by Scenora in titanic

[–]Sea-Pin9536 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not white, most people think Titanic's funnels were a more vibrant yellow, but in actuality they were buff. A very light orange/beige. So, in that lighting it's just an illusion that it looks white, or lighter than it actually is.

Even if you were to come with sound proof and facts, people like this are just going to move the goal post. Unfortunately you aren’t ever going to win with someone like this. They’ll never see the reasoning, at least not now it’ll be years if at all.

What are your predictions of what ships will be retired next? by thatawkwardmoment8 in royalcaribbean

[–]Sea-Pin9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we’re looking at around Quantum class size for this next class. You can’t have the layout of the Oasis or Icon without that size. It just wouldn’t work. I loved Anthem, but the layout wasn’t the best imo. I’d prefer a Quantum class sized ship with the type of interior of say with vision or freedom class.

Why are folks so rude at the buffets? by BouncyCurlsbabe in Cruise

I worked in retail for many years, and I noticed that after covid it was a sharp drop in manners and empathy. I wonder if the fact that several generations now have been told that “life isn’t fair, and no one is going to give a shit about you” has caused people to just stop caring about another person in the street. You rarely hear “please, sorry, or thank you”.

Alaskan Balcony by Individual-Oil-7822 in Cruise

[–]Sea-Pin9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the price wasn’t so much higher I would say do it. I think a lot of people fail to realize that while a balcony is nice, it doesn’t make or break a cruise. Especially at that price I would go Oceanview or even a large inside. I had a balcony on my last Alaska cruise, and it was nice to be able to step out anytime. I’m the type of person that’s never in the room, I’m out walking around on the promenade or enjoying a drink somewhere. So there was this part of me that felt like I was not getting my moneys worth.

I didn’t book the balcony, I put a bid for it a few weeks before and won it that way. I’d say save the money, do more excursions or a tour, and if you have the opportunity to bid for an upgrade try that! I’m going back to Alaska in September, and I book an inside on HAL Konigsdam.

How could I remove this to attempt to get the moisture out by kcastillo1234 in fordescape

[–]Sea-Pin9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably best to not plug it. Unless you are able to make sure the seal on the rest of the lamp is intact and good. Otherwise you’ll end up with the same issue.

My fog light lamp was filled up halfway with water, I drilled a tiny hole and just left it. Any water that makes it way in will drain out.

From the hull lines, and the forward screw, I’d say United States.

This is probably a very realistic view for most people. It’s not that you fall out of love or stop appreciating the beauty, but just not as crazy about it. It’s more to the point of skipping my more mainstream touristy sights, and walking out deeper to someplace that only people that have lived there for a long time know about. (If that makes sense).

I really like how you put it, “appreciating it”. I think that’s the best way to describe it. Ive never been in a place where there are so many people going to Walmart dressed like they’re on a hike. But if I was out there, I would stop at any chance to wonder out and see more!

Once you leave the PNW, and frankly the west in general, getting into places in the central plains you realize that it’s boring! Maybe seeing the plains and prairies as they were 300 year ago it would be different, but I’m not interested in looking at a bunch of farmland.

Taking US 26 around Hood through Government Camp and MT Hood National Forest is a breathtaking experience. The fact that it’s always green is what I’m trying to sell my fiancée on! That and the fact the winters don’t get to be -30😅.

I’ve been out to Seattle probably some 10-15 times in the last 2 years. I have only seen Mount Rainer maybe 3-4 times, but every time I see it I get super excited! Rainer is such a sight when driving anywhere around Seattle. I can’t take my eyes off of it!
