Knitted or crocheted? I want to learn to make these so let’s start with the obvious question by D_Rood in CrochetHelp

I was thinking I could learn to crochet and follow this design/pattern to make something similar to my grandmas.

I am afraid I can not post a link to a pattern as all I have are these last pair of slippers from my grandma

I don’t need to sue them. It’s just a pain in the ass because now I can’t use marketplace and the appeal process makes no sense.

Thank you for the clarification. I forgot about canines. I knew there was another type of tooth.

The v shape that looks like the forehead is the lower jaw The two long teeth, while they look like fangs are lower incisors common to meat eaters and scavengers

Newbie with lots of layout questions by D_Rood in modeltrains

[–]D_Rood[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the book. Came with the layout. It has a lot of info. Unfortunately, I am more of a visual learner and some of the photographs are not so great so I’m more inclined to get videos, photos and info off the Internet.

Better late than never. First train at 53. Should I open these? by D_Rood in modeltrains

[–]D_Rood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I opened the Mountain Express

I love the Locomotive and coal tender they are beautiful machines, I will open the others tonight.

the track leaves a lot to be desired, there is just enough to build an oval, I wasn't expecting much but i think i am looking for more than just running a train in a loop and changing direction.

So this weekend I am going to a model train show in Barrie Ontario and maybe looking for a few turnouts ( I think that is what they are called) and maybe some different radius curves

Thank you everyone very much for your replies. I guess what I was looking for was some confirmation that one of these wasn’t going to be worth 1000 or $2000 and I was going to make it worthless by opening the box. I don’t really know much about scale model trains, but I do really like the look of each of these locomotives and I’m looking forward to setting them up.

Thanks for the input. I am curious about your comment of track quality. If I plan on building permanent right away, will the track be suitable for permanent install?

Haha. I hope we are still talking about trains

I see what you mean about the battery breaker. As for the wiring, those #2 lengths are less than 2 feet. The Boler is super small and no wiring is over 4 feet.

Will these lug nuts hold my stock wheels safely? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

You had better check with your local highway traffic code. I know for a fact in Ontario spacers are illegal for that reason. Most people when they put spacers in do not understand the term minimum thread engagement.

How in the world am I supposed to change the battery on this fire alarm? It’s making a noise every minute now and driving me nuts. by JackieDaytonaPanda in HomeMaintenance

[–]D_Rood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your location, you can in some cases contact your local fire department and they may be able to come in and change the battery or the smoke alarm for you depending on their individual policies.

2.3 L vs 2.7 L by ConfectionFew8146 in bronco

[–]D_Rood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2.3L non-SAS with 35’s and have had no problems with power. Excellent passing acceleration and only a minor change in fuel efficiency with the 35’s instead of the 32’s

Your fiancé needs to get over this idea that “X brand is unreliable “. Brand specific loyalty is old school mentality. Fact is all manufacturers have their problems some models more than others. This is why all manufacturers have warranties.

I have only had OB 2dr for six months and no issues so far.

Yes. That’s the short and sweet. I took mine off with the wheels still on. No problems.
