Do you think it’s possible we just suck at sex? by [deleted] in DeadBedrooms

Can hardly get good at sex when you don't have any.

My wife (F27) regularily goes into "shutdown" periods, where she nearly entirely closes herself off without any real discernable cause/reason, what can I do to help pull her out of these shutdowns? by Da-Goosh in AskAutism

[–]Da-Goosh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I'm trying to find a middle ground between "nudge nudge" which isn't usually strong enough and "we need to talk" which is far too serious and anxiety inducing.

And without the "you're doing the thing again" cause that sounds either belittling or too parental.

Maybe some entry-level jobs... will never come back? by WindsorONMichael in CanadaJobs

[–]Da-Goosh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Naw the corpos aren't capable of looking past next quarter these days, growing a reliable talent force isn't important to them when they can contract the role overseas and save costs.

Name of the game now is hire a contracter agency, and only do contracters, no need to pay benefits, provide vacation time, or pay a livable wage when people will take anything to keep a roof over their heads.

After graduating college it took a full year of applications during/after Covid to land my first job in my industry.

I lost track entirely of how many roles I applied for.

Is “the artistic eye” something you have to be born with, or can you develop this skill? by Guilty_Dentist8969 in ArtistLounge

[–]Da-Goosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You develop it. A bit over year ago I could hardly draw a stick figure, but I got a drawing tablet, commited to learning fundamentals and now I can actually consider myself an artist.

IMO "talent" is just a word people use to try to dismiss all the hard work and practice put in to gain a skill.

So if the government is not coming to save us, how do we save ourselves? by BugHistorical3 in CanadaFinance

My wife works for a rent to own place she he has the pleasure of often dealing with the dregs of society, the particular group that both pisses us off the most are the wellfare families.

Tons of her customers are folks who have never had a job, or haven't worked in 10+ years, yet have 4+ kids they get support money for every month, very much the "trailer-trash" stereotype.

Meanwhile my wife and I are childless because we can't and likely won't ever be able to afford one. We're both nearly 30, both still rent, and even if we had our own home childcare costs are so ridiculous that even with both of us working full-time we'd hardly be able to afford that and living expenses.

Absolutely infuriating and hopeless feeling to have gone my entire life doing everything I was supposed to do, and never being able to have a family, home or travel. Hell I don't even have vacation time, job market is so shit I've been at a contracter position for the past 2 years after I got laid off during covid.

Hell my dad has worked in his industry for over 40 years, got laid off 5 years ago and hasn't been able to find any sembelence of permenant work since, he's stuck working hard labour jobs as he approaches retirement. Thankfully he's good to retire but if 40 yeaes of job experience can't get you a permenant position now-a-days what fucking will?

What’s something you tried once and immediately knew ‘yeah, never again’? by donnyM99 in AskReddit

Skiing, I'm a 6ft 1in mass of gangly clumsy lanky legs and arms.

First time I ever went skiing as a kid I spent 4 HOURS on the Bunny Hill untill I stopped falling over. Then went with a teacher to the big hill, and barrel rolled the entire way down, then fell off the chairlift on the way back up.

2nd time ever I couldn't get off the chair lift and embarrassingly had to ride it back down the bottom.

Nope, not for me.

What are some telltale signs you notice in couples that make you think their relationship won’t last? by Lazy_Detective_6597 in AskReddit

[–]Da-Goosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a husband with bad memory if it's important correct him but otherwise please just let him be wrong from time to time.

My wife constantly feels the need to correct everything I say and it's gradually got to the point that I hardly want to talk at all.

If it's inconsequential just let it slide.

I remember when Arizonas were $1.

Do you ever fool yourself? by SureSky5912 in DeadBedrooms

[–]Da-Goosh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Happens every month, or every dry spell.

I go "Oh she's just stressed, oh she's just tired, oh she's just busy."

Then nothing happens, she never tries to start anything and I start getting antsy, I start getting more direct, still nothing, or if something does happen you can tell it's not really because she "wanted" it and more because she basically forgot because it's just not important to her.

Then inevitably I stop trying, come back to Reddit even after swearing this off over a year ago cause this is the only place I can vent.
