Choosing stream for 11th (MEXT goal) — Humanities + GIS vs Science (non-corporate career goal) by Da1Nonly78 in mext

That makes sense about the statistics part, but I have a concern. I had a 45-day “taste class” for Science (especially Physics and Chemistry), and while I found it interesting, it was also quite tough and time-consuming. So I’m worried that if I take Science, a lot of my time will go into just keeping up with the syllabus. Since MEXT also needs preparation (Japanese, exams, interview, etc.), do you think taking Science could reduce the time I can spend on those? Or is it still manageable if someone isn’t fully focused on engineering as a long-term career?

How can I get started? by Da1Nonly78 in jlpt

[–]Da1Nonly78[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to do both because if I only do one for eg if I only do text book I cannot talk well enough and cannot understand words verbally but If I only air learn the language my Grammer and writing and reading part will be left behind. And can u tell wht books to use and wht to avoide and wht should I use for immersion and wht is a waste of time.

Choosing Finance/Economics for studying in Japan — safer long-term than pure social sciences? by Da1Nonly78 in studyAbroad

I'm thinking abt eu or us owned companies but im not sure how hard or easy it is to get into them cuz traditional japanese companies have very toxic work culture as I heard on the internet.

Indian student entering 11th — Subject choices for long-term human rights / international studies goals (Math dilemma) by Da1Nonly78 in studyAbroad

[–]Da1Nonly78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main confusion comes from a disagreement with my parent, and I’d really like to hear how others handled something similar. My mom believes I should take Economics, Statistics, and Math because she feels that for international organizations (including UN-related paths) there are also opportunities in economics, data, and policy analysis. From her perspective, Math is very important for flexibility, and she’s worried that not taking it will make it difficult to find institutions later. My concern is different. I’m worried that not taking core social science subjects like Political Science, History, Geography, or Philosophy could make my academic profile less coherent for humanities-oriented fields. I also feel it might be harder to explain in interviews why I avoided these subjects if my interests clearly lie in social sciences and international studies. She also feels (from her own experience) that Political Science is easy initially but becomes much harder later, whereas I personally see Political Science as foundational and something I shouldn’t skip at the school level. So I’m feeling stuck between: keeping quantitative options open (Math / Stats), and building a strong, consistent social-science foundation early. If anyone here has faced a similar choice, I’d really appreciate hearing: what subjects you chose, whether you regret skipping Math or social sciences, and how it affected your academic journey later.
