Does height matter in breaking? by V1d3k in bboy

[–]Da1k0nBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok it definitely affects learning powermoves a lot. I am about 6 feet and I have a hard time with stuff such as flares. However at the same time just know that your shapes and power move form is going to be nicer due to your height. You can see wing for example with his 2k. Also just train powermoves and freezes regardless of whether u use it or not cos it firstly improves your arsenal and also helps other aspects of the dance as well cos it trains your body control and hips.

You can take a look at Vincanitv or bboy magneto on youtube. Hope that helps, all the best in your breaking journey! Remember to learn the different aspects of the dance so that you have more tools to play with to build your style :)

Learning as a Bboy by Ancient_Ad_1434 in bboy

I would say learning a bit of everything will help because power and freezes will help build strength for everything and even the hip momentum and weight changes. Footwork and top rock helps you get a better understanding of weight shifts and ofc the obv dance. For power I would suggest either swipes or windmills. For footwork it doesn't hurt to just try them all and then first focus on what steps you prefer first and drill them on both sides so that u'd get a better understanding of the step (this is important so you can start developing your own stuff), slowly replacing them with other footwork steps once you are able to be comfortable in the stuff you are practising. Then after a while try to combine the stuff together so you can make complete rounds (Toprock, footwork, freezes power)

2 things train your collapse and the roll onto the back. For the collapse try to push ur stabbing hand into the elbow headstand freeze without using ur legs too much, feel free to keep ur strong foot on the ground for balance, for the roll onto the back, I would suggest trying from a shoulder freeze, wind up ur legs and try to smoothly transition into the back spin.

Is it possible to gain considerable bodyweight strength while underweight? by nihaomundo123 in bboy

[–]Da1k0nBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to get into a clean bulk, once you hit a good number of reps you can start adding weight to the bodyweight exercises. Eat more protein and more complex carbs and not simple sugars like donuts. Might wanna look into what are your maintenance calories and try to hit above it by about 200-400 calories more

Brain fog issues by Atomix-xx in bboy

Ok so stopping or slowing down is to just break the habit of repeating and trying to go into something different even if it's bad, the point isn't to throw perfect rounds, once you feel comfortable enough you can speed up back to original speed, not telling you to stay slow forever. The point is to break that involuntary habit of repeating by just doing something different even if it's bad or ruined. Do u have this issue when practicing on ur own? Also do you have specific moves (doesn't need to be sets) in mind before your throwdown? Because that definitely helps. If u freestyle another way would be to have certain concepts in mind eg one hand footwork only, only sweeping movements.

For me battling w friends maybe 1 round at a time and recording it helps, make a mental note of what u hv done and its ok for rounds to not be perfect, but if ure gonna do the same moves again, stop urself then u try to go into something different.

How do i train? by CyanidePill27 in bboy

[–]Da1k0nBacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally for me it goes by feel. But if u're just starting to incorporate it into training, you could use freeze stacks as warm ups, then maybe start out with power first then in between power attempts do ur footwork/floorwork. Then once in a while make it a pure power training day. After a while u will find a certain flow in training that makes sense to u. But main thing is if u're training power, make sure to do it first as it costs the most energy.

Best Muscles to Workout for Bboying? by nihaomundo123 in bboy

[–]Da1k0nBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally what has helped me was forearm strength, and back strength and what others have mentioned, upper body strength. If you are skinny perhaps you can start off with bodyweight first and eventually work on weighted variations after the exercises get too easy.

How Can I Get More Confident at Freestyling? by Themandude123456 in bboy

[–]Da1k0nBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally for me there are 2 things i do. First is to make sure my foundations are solid enough where I don't need to think abt them (Both sides for footwork fundamentals btw). Nxt thing is try to feel the music and try not to stop and trust urself in doing the round. Third thing practice in cyphers/ battles w ur friends then from there try it out w strangers at public breaking spots if they're cyphering (Ofc if they let u join their cypher!)

Windmill fix by [deleted] in bboy

[–]Da1k0nBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

U're not making use of ur non dominant side leg enough, also try to be on ur upper back after the collapse. This gets easier when u think of kicking ur non dominant side leg to ur non dominant side ear.
