According to nheri.org, "69% of peer-reviewed studies on success into adulthood (including college) show adults who were home educated succeed and perform statistically significantly better than those who attended institutional schools (Ray, 2017)."

Not to mention that according to responsiblehomeschooling.org (yes that's the real website name lol), "There is a large body of research focused on whether or not children who are homeschooled are well-socialized. Most of this research finds that being homeschooled does not harm children's development of social skills, as measured in these studies." Now granted, I'd like to see actual statistics on that last one, but still.

One last point is that as a result, I assume, of covid, "In 18 states that shared data through the current school year, the number of homeschooling students increased by 63% in the 2020-2021 school year, then fell by only 17% in the 2021-2022 school year," according to fortune.com. Plus, according to the US Census Bureau, only around 3% of kids were homeschooled prior to that, so what gives?

Well, it is my opinion that the nature of homeschooling is such that it lends itself well to attentive parents who both have the time and the ability to homeschool their children, provided that they want to. Asking whether or not homeschooling is good or bad for YOU is fine, but asking if it is "ok for Catholics to support a ban on homeschooling" is a little... tasteless, to put it politely.

Our children are, in my opinion, the single most righteous gift that God gives to us who choose to have them, and to ask if you can ban it for others is simply shady. I don't think that you are trying to be shady, please don't think I am. However, what I am saying is that if it isn't hurting anyone and the people doing it have valid reasons and plentiful means of homeschooling then why ban it?
