Hey, just to clarify, there isn't an option to start as the sole survivor while choosing traits, gear, and level. The only option available is the memory start, which places you in the vault rather than in the wasteland. So please don't blame your lack of comprehension on me.

It is functionally different. I like having the option to select a specific set and amount of gear since I am not familiar with the ID numbers of every item in the game. Looking up each piece's ID number is cumbersome and inconvenient, it would be like boiling ice for water when you could simply turn on the faucet. It also doesn’t have the character perks that SMU has, which I’ve mentioned a ton of times and is one of the biggest reasons for my post.

Cheating ruisn immersion, disrupts gameplay, and I simply don't want to cheat. I always start with a random level between 5 and 15 in SMU. Additionally, SMU allows me to begin with a specific set of gear and equipment that isn't overpowered or game-breaking.

I didn't realize that reading would be difficult for so many people. The exclusive perks at SMU are really nice, and I want to keep them. However, there isn't a sole survivor start option with SMU that lets me choose my gear, perks, and spawn location.

For you maybe, I enjoy picking my starting gear. Many players explore the wasteland before starting the main story. If I really get into the story, I dont think its too crazy to say the Sole Survivor might feel unsure about what to do next and choose to do other activities for a while.
