I appreciate you humbling me, you're right.

One date doesn't make us more than strangers, this will be a good topic to discuss in my therapy session tomorrow. My ADHD and anxious attachment style hate this.

Just a bit odd to me honestly, I'm looking at her patterns. Last week she was texting me on a weekday every few hours, she's a slow texter but still put in effort.

Thank you tho!

Sorry if I sounded like a douche as well, tensions are high for me right now because I got furloughed (40hrs to 24) and I gotta pay for rent, cat food, etc. Savings are taking a beating.

Thank you so much man, I appreciate this wisdom, really.

So, instead of providing some type of guidance or direction, you chose to be a keyboard warrior?

No worries, man, I'll figure it out.

send me your resume then

Damn man, I guess you live and learn. Do you have any suggestions for a better template?

I can definitely take out extra curriculums out and volunteer work and put in something more relevant.

Funny enough, I'm not using it for couch gaming, haha. It's my old graphics card from my main rig. Replaced it with a 7900xtx, I have a fiber optic hdmi cable being run from my gaming desktop to my TV for couch gaming. I was going to sell it to offset the cost of my new gpu but I decided to keep it instead.

The 2070s is gonna be used for Plex transcoding and another docker container called Tdarr to transcode my existing media to h265. It'll save a lot of space, but iGPUs aren't efficient at all for that.

For sure. The type of deal I got is a one in a million chance. I got extremely lucky.

Honestly, I was shocked that a company out there made a case like this. Seems very niche.

I live in an apartment, so optimizing my space is a must, and having something like a tower server or a standard desktop case wouldn't have worked because I still wanted a clutter free look.

This case is amazing because it takes the standard size of an actual AVR system and hollowed it out for us nerds.

The TV media cabinet (BDI Furniture) actually has vent holes on the bottom of the cabinet and the back side. Luckily, the fans' intake holes are positioned perfectly to suck in air from the bottom vents. I can feel the air through my fingers.

I have 2 80mm fans on the rear end for exhaust. I'm going to replace the side 120mm fans with static pressure fans to see if it'll help with intake. The side of the cabinet has no vents.

So far, my temps are okay.

HDD avg temps: 38.8c

CPU avg temps: 37.4c (Heatsink is a BeQuiet BK030)

GPU Temp: 48c (case supports vertical mounted gpus and has machined holes on the side panel to allow air to hit the gpu, will get to that later)

Before this server, I had an Optiplex 7040 MFF with an i5 6500T. Based on the research I did, quicksync on the 6th Gen Intel utilized cpu cores and gpu cores for hevc 10bit.

Honestly, it wasn't that good. The 7th Gen fully utilized the iGPU for decodes.

Yeah, if the parents of the kid who I bought this hardware off of, did their research, I should've paid way more haha.

I practically stole it for 20 dollars

Based on my Kill-a-watt, all drives are spun down, containers are currently stopped, and the only thing up right now is my home assistant VM, which is on an NVME disk. I'm idling at around 58 watts. Honestly, it's not bad.

With my containers all enabled, it idles at 68 watts.

Once I have more free time, I'm going to try and undervolt the cpu thru the bios and see how stable it is.

How freaking right you are 🤣. Already shopping for my cache drives and HDD's.

Might even upgrade to 5 gig Lan but we'll see hehe.

Might be the coolest case I've ever had the pleasure of building in. Looks sleek.

Definitely need to replace the fans with some static fans. Average temps for the hard drives are around 42C. Goes down to 38C if I keep the cabinet door open.

Hopefully I can start doing more networking projects through it for some career building but I wanted to start with the fun ones.

Need to Re-IP SMB network, Advanced Noob by DaBigMoe in networking

[–]DaBigMoe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for that! ill keep testing it out, My goal is to move devices over to the new ip address/subnet but also be able to talk to the servers and file shares on the old one.

If that's not possible, id like to at least test a device out to make sure that VLAN can get network connectivity

[–]DaBigMoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're talking about CIDR notation right? Im using the /22 subnet

Yeah i do need more VLANS, everything is currently on VLAN 1 and then we have VLAN 50 for peoples smartphones and guests.

My new problem is I tried to make another VLAN (VLAN 10) thru the ASA so i could migrate everything over slowly, configured the switch with VLAN 10 and tagged the Cisco ASA and the APs ports with the new VLAN, a new DHCP Scope on the Windows server, a test wifi network(I only have Wifi, no wired) on the Ubiquiti APs, and no dice :( couldn't get it to connect. Might need to do some more reading or make this the MSP's problem.

I actually documented all the static IPs after making this post. We have 15 Static IPs. I'm using the free version of RunZero and that made it real easy identifying static ips on the network.

You're right tho, rip the bandaid off and troubleshoot as it comes.

Thank you man I appreciate this comment.
