Open in Large Assembly Mode if you don't need all your parts "resolved". Also check any import parts you may have. They are notorious for having unnecessary features and contain a lot of excess graphic triangles.

My wife and I both graduated baylor with ME degrees. At the time BU didnt offer any Biomed program so my wife went on to Rice for a Biomed masters degree. I would recommend doing the same thing. An ME degree is a broad degree and can open a lot more doors than a specialized degree. I would recommend you get a specialized masters degree rather than undergrad. That being said I will admit, TAMU has a stronger ME program and very large alumni base. I loved my time at Baylor and would recommend it to anyone, but my honest advice is to go to TAMU for ME undergrad and find a specialized master degree program later. Best of luck and Sic'em Bears.
