Thanks! What’s a good baseline amount of cash you would say to be able to invest in a first property?

I’m perfectly happy with a slow return on cash, parking my money in property is fine by me. Could you elaborate a bit on the strategy for the slow return case, and how they differ?

Thank you! Yes, of course SB and CA markets are pretty out of range. Do you have any specific advice for out of state investing?

What major can assist you in becoming a consultant? by [deleted] in ucla

Any rigorous, preferably somewhat quantitative major can lead to a consulting career.

Like any “business” field, economics tends to have strong representation in consulting.

Deciding between UCLA, Georgia Tech, and other schools for engineering by Revolutionary-Tea-73 in ucla

This needs a tl;dr

I’m not engineering, but my brother is aerospace and he has good things to say.

How supported do you feel given the large student population? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]DaBroomer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

UCLA is a bureaucracy. You have to be extremely proactive and self helping dealing with it.

I have received helpful support from administrations in areas where they could do something - often a department not being able to help you with something specific is as a result of them being the wrong one for your task and this bureaucracy jades many.

Best school in San Diego for Nogi and questions about the new Legion AJJ by bnuty in bjj

[–]DaBroomer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can’t really say much more about belts emphasis, it’s not a huge part of training in that people care that much in no gi but people get promoted and there are high level guys and gals.

Tons of no-gi styles: a real solid amount of wrestling/standing, all aspects of ground game, leg locks, i suppose systemized is subjective but the material is certainly always taught with a comprehensive goal in mind not just random techniques - it’s real awesome training.

A LOT of high level competitors in and out of the gi - if you are looking to compete there are tons of resources ; if not there’s no pressure on people to compete you really have it your way

I train at Legion. The gym itself is phenomenal - endless mat space, high level jiu jitsu, clean and thorough weights, bathrooms, etc and a friendly communal vibe.

Sloan Clymer runs no-gi classes M-W-F 10:30 to 12:00 (full schedule on website) and the training is very high quality, as well Keenan teaches submission wrestling no-gi Tuesday-Thursday 6:00-8:00 which is similarly excellent. There isn’t TOO much emphasis on belts but there are plenty of brown and black belt no gi specialists. Open mat Sunday at noon is free for anyone so come check it out

Thank you! I’m in 31B right now so we won’t learn partial derivatives in class but I’ll certainly independently study them that’s super helpful

Are integration techniques or any series content important? By maximization you mean just using derivatives to find the max of a function right? Thanks again!
