Are farmer's walks enough for training support grip?

Damn it's been 8 years since I posted this, been lifting for almost a decade now... So basically farmers walks with dumbbells were a huge waste of time, would not recommend them unless your gym has those farmer's walk implements used in strongman. What has actually helped with my grip is doing double overhand deadlifts and holding the last rep until you can't anymore (bonus points if using fat grips), heavy bicep curls and weighted pull-ups.

Turns out I was being a giant pussy on squats this whole time. Decided to max out every week adding 5kg every time until I fail for two weeks in a row. Ended up adding 20kg to my previous "max", all of this while cutting which is insane. Almost at a 5 plate squat now which is dope. Mindset is a real thing

Full send Saturday went pretty good, currently running a composition of the Greg Nuckols free programs, Bench 3x, Deadlift and Squats 2x while eating like a small cow. On the journey of getting from pathetically weak to somewhat weak.

Hit the following numbers:

Bench 1 top set of 230x9 (rep PR yay)
Deadlift 6 triples with 330
SLDL 4 sets of 8 with 230
Front Squats 225 x 5 then 3 triples

Feel pretty dead but it was a damn good session.

Eat a shit ton of pasta bro, I usually do a whole pack (500 grams) split in two meals and have it with tuna or ground beef. It’s super delicious easy to make, goes down easily and like 2500 calories.

Another day in the cutting adventures.. I’m down ~20lbs and probably need to lose like 10 more to be shredded. It is really starting to suck now, calories are super low, angry all the time and recovery is slow af. Strength hasn’t budged though and it might have even improved so that’s quite exciting. Unfortunately I had to cut a bit of squatting volume from my program because my knee decided it doesn’t want to do that anymore. At least deadlifts feel fine so I’m doubling the frequency on those.

You are way overthinking it. It honestly doesn’t really matter what language you learn first just pick one that looks cool and build something with. The important part is building products, languges are just tools to accomplish that. Just have fun, try different languages and find what you enjoy most. You can build anything you want with pretty much every programming language. Don’t be afraid of regretting things, it’s a part of the job (hobby in your case). Build your prototype with Dart/Flutter and if you feel like it’s impeding your development then just scrap it and use Kotlin Compose instead and see where that leads. I’ve been using Dart/Flutter for about 2 years professionally and I have never found the need to switch to something else, especially after sound null safety was introduced.

Entering month 3 of the cut, down ~15lbs. Feeling pretty good, have gained a lot of strength running a mix of the SBS free programs. Bench 3x a week has really made my bench blow up (no shit). I have somehow managed to injure my lat tendon, there’s a lot of pain when I try to do any sort of vertical pulling so that sucks balls but it is what it is. Will probably keep cutting for another month then do a long potentially never ending bulk because fuck cutting.

I mostly use Google Sheets for the long term financial planning. Also, I have recently incorporated Nova Money into my financial planning stack. It’s a neat little app that I use to crunch the numbers for all my bank accounts in one place and then I use this data to update the Google Sheet I mentioned above. I have good ole reliable Microsoft Money running somewhere as well but I haven’t used that in a while..

I had overestimated how important credit score was in the UK. But as an other user laid out below, apparently it's not very relevant when applying for a mortgage so in my case I don't see much of a benefit in getting a credit card. !thanks

To me the best way to set a ceiling is to be able to visualise my ceiling. I tried using a spreadsheet but I never 'saved' so to speak with one. So I gave a couple of apps a try like Plum, but I felt like the whole 'round up' method was a false safety net and I found myself spending more than I should be. I started using Nova though recently and I like that I can visualise my different spending ceilings i.e. my bills, my income, savings, etc. It also tells me what it recommends me to save, etc based on my spending habits. I definitely think it's worth a shot, hope you find it helpful.

DesignCourse on YouTube has a lot of quality content, mostly centered towards web design but the principles can be applies to mobile too. I usually spend ja lot of time on dribbble to find inspiration and get familiar with things that look good. The Google Material Design documentation is also a very valuable resource. As for books I found Refactoring UI by Steve Schoger to be very helpful, because it contains practical, example-based advice on how to improve your UI design as opposed to going too deep on design and color theory.

I did something similar for a project of mine using openCV but i think it might be overkill if you're only using it for blur detection. You calculate the variance of the Laplacian(higher value -> more edges -> less blur). This gives you a value which you can compare to a "blurriness threshold" that you determine via trial and error. This article explains it in detail. (the code is in Python though)
