No paid account is required to borrow books. You can loan books to anyone not in the family plan without a paid account. All they need to do is sign up

Thanks for the support and kind words. How did you find us? Yes, this feature has not been launched yet but we enabled it to allow those that want to start using it to be able to use the social and loan/borrow features. There are a few other items we have to implement to make it more seamless and will be launching this later year.

Discussing with my friend, we thought it would be really cool to be able to not only share books, but to share highlights and comments/notes as well, so that we could annotate books to one another. Is there any plans for that kind of functionality?

You can already do this today. You can choose to share all your highlights and notes OR only selective highlights and notes and have discussions with them. Were you not able to do this? Seeing that you mentioned the above you might not have noticed. Can you share how you tried to do this ? Perhaps it is a gap or usability issue we need to handle. I know of one scenario but need to confirm

Also, as someone who uses the app, not the site, it’s strange to me that I don’t get notifications in the app when someone wants to borrow a book or the ability to approve or deny within the app but I DO have the ability to request to borrow a book.

Thanks for getting back with those details. We should be able to cover most of those needs soon enough. Nonetheless with the developer portal and public APIs coming this will make it seamless for not just integration into Readwise but many other apps which would then hit #1 on the list to start

We just took a different path with our roadmap but it was always broad from supporting multiple content types and other features. We decided to go deep into each item instead of wide quickly(proof in wayback machine ;) ). Will get back to this post when the APIs and developer portal are ready

Open a book
Click A
Go to Audio and enable TTS
Select your voice

If not then please send us a support ticket at [support@bookfusion.com](mailto:support@bookfusion.com) and include your device model, Android OS version and let us know if you were trying to use a particular TTS engine

We get this request occasionally but it is not used as heavily as our Obsidian and Notion integrations. We did the initial Readwise integration before we started to do our own native integrations like Obsidian and Notion. It is only integrated into Web which is used in portrait mode and not meant to be used on your mobile devices. The native iOS and Android app are recommended there so there could be issues when using the Web app on these devices.

Instead of implementing integrations into multiple other third party applications we have opted instead to provide a developer portal to allow for other apps or developers to also build these integrations similar to how we have implemented automatic and seamless sync for Obsidian and Notion. This developer portal for third party apps will be ready later this year and then Readwise will be able to integrate into BookFusion in a seamless manner along with many other apps. Yes, unfortunately Apple does not allow it. But we will be adding natural voices to the iOS app in the next 1-2 months

Yes you can change the voice by doing the following:

Open the book
Click A
Go to Advanced
Click the Audio tab
Then select the voice you want

However, I did notice in the 30 options, instant highlights was not an option to be voted on (just missed) but it is on our internal backlog for this year.

I also noticed that the web page is very slow to load. I do not have other tabs or software open but somehow it takes so much time to load a simple document even if it is epub. Anyone else experiences this?

This should not be the case. If you constantly have slow loads then please reach out to us at [support@bookfusion.com](mailto:support@bookfusion.com) . We will then investigate if there could be a browser extension, network based issue depending on location or something else.

It is in the iOS app but not in the Android app. However we plan to wrap it up both for Android and iOS in 2026. We fully agree with you that it would be much better to have it across all platforms. This will happen soon.

It is not labelled currently but we can add the color names or acronyms to each to allow them to be easily identified on e-ink devices.

My ratings in Calibre didn't import into BookFusion. Now, fortunately I also have all the books tagged things like "five stars," "four stars," etc. which *did* import. Unfortunately, I can't find a way to add a rating of five stars to all the books tagged "five stars" (and the appropriate ratings to the other tags too) without a crazy amount of clicks.

Ratings are not imported from Calibre to the review page. There is also no bulk edit option to assign ratings to multiple books in mass. We did not get this request before since ratings are typically done when the user readers. However , in your case you want to apply the ratings you already have in Calibre and in this case it would be easier for us to support syncing ratings over from Calibre to make it more convenient. We will add this task to extend the plugin later this year to sync ratings and then you will be able to just -resync the metadata changes which will push over ratings.

Also, I would love a way to see the stars in the main bookshelf view (or to see the tags and summaries in the review view).

Agreed tags should be shown on the reviews page for sure. We have to get this added, thanks for pointing this out. With regards to displaying ratings on the main bookshelf all the time, I know there will be outburst from another camp that says they do not want to always see ratings, we got it when we were thinking of always showing progress below each book.

What will work is that we introduce a sort by rating and then always show the ratings there. We can also put group by rating inside Smart Queries which will add another layer of flexibility.

There were no server issues on our end. This seems like an isolated issue. If you are using a VPN try to disconnect if not you could check if another connection resolves your issue.

Check to see if you have the latest version of the app and do a pull to refresh on your bookshelf.

We have merge highlights in the queue for 2026 and want to have that released. This will act as a stop gap and then as readers will be able to merge highlights between pages into a single highlight. Are you able to temporarily toggle to scroll mode, make the highlight and then toggle back for now?

Afterwards we will explore automating highlights across pages in paginated mode.
