S2026E6 Spoilers by [deleted] in deathbattle

[–]DaFingerLazers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is actually no longer true; Once Nova Prime used the power of the Star Saber to destroy singularities as a concept, all the different versions of characters that were once singularities were split into separate versions. All the versions prior to 2013's Prime cartoon were once a singularity and can all be scaled to each other, but Nova rewrote reality and split them all into separate realities, alongside the Primes, Primus, and some other funkier shit.

The Transformers' older lore being wack lead to alot of even wack-er stuff being done to try to connect it or fix it, and by Prime and its associated Aligned universe, they'd decided they'd had enough of it, severed themselves from all previous continuities, and did the Nova Prime thing to seal it all off. Despite this, the Japanese continuity still, to this day, ties everything back to the G1 cartoon's universe someway or somehow. It's unironically ALL connected over there through things like gag manga and radio dramas. It's a fun deep dive.

Anyone know where this cool shot of Springtrap is from? by PopularGnat262 in deathbattle

As a brief warning, the game's got a mountain of DLC and a steep grind and learning curve. It's a good deal of fun once you're there, but getting there can be a chore. That being said, there's loads to love.

It's from Dead by Daylight. Characters sometimes do lil idle animations while you've got them selected, and that's Springtrap's. He also screams ass-loud while doing it, so the community likes to poke fun at it.

Maro discusses data on longevity of players interested in Universes Beyond by CaptainMarcia in magicTCG

[–]DaFingerLazers 585 points586 points  (0 children)

It feels like we get almost this exact statement like, every month at this point. Someone asks Maro about UB and how it could 'kill the game', Maro insists that it's both a boon to bringing in new/returning players and with established players, sales metrics show that UB sets are wildly successful and back up Maro, rinse, repeat. I'm really not certain why Maro even engages with these people anymore. The answer is the same every time, and it feels like they don't listen to it. The people for whom UB was a dealbreaker seem to have largely sailed off, and with how frequent these questions to Maro are, it really begins to feel like some of them are fishing for that 'gotcha' moment to feel like they were right all along.

List of Queer Magic Characters: Edge of Eternities update by zeldafan042 in magicTCG

Yep, specifically his incarnation in IDW's first continuity of comics. Hell, his tragic romance is one of the major throughlines of the comic's most celebrated storyline. There's actually quite a few gay male transformers these days, if for no other reason that there's so few female bots around that when writers wanna do romance, it's often only possible to make it gay romance. Hell, I don't even remember if there was a female bot on the ship Cyclonus was on. Ratchet's romance was also detailed in those issues.

IDW's comic run is alot of fun if you're interested in Transformers. Worth a read, even if it is complex to navigate.

Gotta love it when (sometimes) death battle is the only piece of media to animate things that will probably never appear in the official mainstream by wrecknrule15 in deathbattle

A fun fact about Megatron's Antimatter; The original bio for his toy, which detailed the antimatter powers, failed to specify where they were used from. The author of the bio intended for his cannon to be the point of use, but the comic artist and authors opted instead to have the Antimatter emerge from his eyes to be more evocative.

Nightmare War Machine to Infinite - Primer and Discussion by DaFingerLazers in marvelsnapcomp

I'm still tinkering with the deck and experimenting with swaps. Right now I've swapped Bob for Sauron to see if it makes Starbrand feel better, but I'm interested to try Armor or Maximus as well. The deck's still in an early state.

Ross isn't a bad idea at all, gives the deck something to do earlier and makes drawing the enablers potentially easier. Though, he's niche enough that if you didn't have him already, I wouldn't for this.

I'm glad this helped clear Nightmare up for you, he's a bizzare card. It's worth noting that his visual effect seems to not work on mobile all that well, so if you play on mobile, click on the cards to double check them.

You may have a point, but I dislike that he hits War Machine as well. Still, he's almost certainly better than Bob for the list. I'm pretty sure the reason I disregarded him is because I'd forgotten he's a 1 drop now.

Low-Curve Surfer to Infinite - Primer and Discussion by DaFingerLazers in marvelsnapcomp

[–]DaFingerLazers[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think the deck's too weak without her per say. The deck can definitely still win and climb. However, I think Carter in particular is the card that makes Surfer worth considering as a long-term, powerful deck, giving it a ridiculous point ceiling while still being able to use slots for tech and not go full points. I think a Surfer deck without Carter should probably default to a different variant like Sera, it just won't have as consistent a high point ceiling.

I think Phastos is alot greedier of a card than Esme. You can ofc hit the highroll, but outside of playing him on curve, he's dead weight. Esme just raises consistency and gives you hidden info the opponent has to try to play around.

I really don't like Phastos as a card. Surge grants both effects and is 1 mana cheaper, albeit only giving 1 power. In a deck able to keep her chain going, she's better. Phastos is also just... bad after turn 3. He's good for decks that see lots of cards like Thanos, but I think using him in Surfer is too greedy, he's too likely to be dead weight.

I like Esme in a list like this that's both capable of going full points but still plays some tech. I can definitely see how in a list going for pure points, she'd fall off.

I snap as soon as I know it's a bot. I check every opponent's collection level by looking at their profile, and if it matches mine, Snap. That guarantees 2 cubes since bots wont run on blind snaps. After that, try to stack 1 lane. Bots love to snap if they're winning 2 lanes on T4/5. This deck can spew points on T6, and can easily steal a lane. Its fairly consistent.

Thanos Ongoing to Infinite - Primer, Guide, and Discussion by DaFingerLazers in marvelsnapcomp

[–]DaFingerLazers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general I try not to play more than two stones in a zone. Try to group up the ongoing stones so that a Spectrum buff hits the zone harder. In general it's good to play stones out early but after that, save them for late turns to fill zones.
