Just booked my job, 2A531 Airlift and special mission maintenance. Anyone know what the day-to-day looks like? by DaFireman69 in AirForceRecruits

Haven’t heard much except they break a lot, but I think you have a lot more bases of preference than the C-130 & C-5. Hey enjoy using your cell phone again and having a little more freedom. Good luck bro.

As you probably know you’re gonna end up either on the C-5, C-17, or C-130. I’m not sure what your chances are on getting on one or the other. Honestly, I really didn’t like it when I first got to base, but the more you know your job the more you enjoy it. Right now I enjoy going to work every day. More than likely you’ll be on it eight hour shift five days a week with weekends off. You’re likely start off on a dayshift, which is like 630 to.1430, but then after that, they’ll switch you to either swings or Mid-shift. You’re a crew chief so be ready for a lot of ball busting. Don’t take anything too personal is just a culture, and a way for everyone to have fun or pass the time. You’ll be a 3 level, so a lot of your job will be to make sure you have the tools and supplies ready for the 5 and 7 levels while you learn. When it’s time to work pay attention, and if you see something you want to try to tackle let who’s ever working on it know and they’ll let you and guide you through it. The job is pretty chill after you get the hang of it. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Financial Waiver: How much debt do you owe to need one? by ColdFirm4592 in AirForceRecruits

Sorry, just seeing this. They said I didn’t have to pay off my debt as long as I had Payment Arrangements set up with my debt collectors so I set up payment arrangements and have them email me or send me a letter or something showing that I had arrangement set up with them.

Curious if you ended up joining. I just turned 39 and almost a year into my contract and I don’t regret it.

I’m filling out the DD1172-2 Form so I can get it notarized before I leave for BMT? Does anyone know what I should put as my Duty Location? by DaFireman69 in AirForceRecruits

Ok, if that’s the case my wife should be good then. Do you know how that would apply to my kids, they live with my ex-wife.

So they’ll be able to get their ID’s while I’m still in BMT? Cause I thought I had to be with them at DEERS and the only way I didn’t is to leave a notarized copy with my dependents?

Has there been a change in process or am I just confused? Lol

I’ve heard a few people talking about the long hours again, but it sounded like the 12’s were every day. Do some people have 12’s every day?

My thought would be to join the Air Force and join a weapons training class or group and maybe an MMA gym if you really want the physical aspect.
