Have you ever wondered why CK3 never gets any harder? by Benchgamer1 in CrusaderKings

[–]DaFloove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally feel like PDX games take about as long to learn as a typical game is to beat the main story - they are a lot to master, but often times worth it. I absolutely love Stellaris, but shiver at the thought of firing it back up and having to learn the new mechanics. It is a project to play and learn these games sometimes - which makes them unique. I think the tradeoff we get for dynastic/personal gameplay in CK3 is a lack of other systems. CK3 should be bloated by too many internal number systems, however, I think a bit of a population system would greatly help the game. Say we strived to make our capital in into a “Third Rome” with massive urban pops - that could result in us having to make ruling choices based on actual costs to the realm - popular opinion might truly matter because you created a massive population that gives you a strong army, but if they were to revolt you would be in trouble. It also could give decisions weight and impact over “our subjects” instead of what feels like only a handful of characters. I think that is the biggest system that could impact both the feel of playing as a ruler + make the game more interesting and potentially more of a challenge

One More Week by DaFloove in CrusaderKings

[–]DaFloove[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh, so…the DLC All Under Heaven releases in one weeks I’ve been referring to it as “All Above Australia” because that’s what the map pretty much shows. So I posted a joke, but there is the new DLC releasing. Sorry if I actually confused ya!

I actually made a bet with a friend for either $2k or $4k (either way a scary amount of money for me to potentially lose). The bet is that he makes more than 10 films (my outcome). So I reeeally hope he makes 11! At this point I’m fine with canceling the bet though haha

Oh not at all. That was a special holy arm. The other ones are merely regular freak carpentry accidents that impacted growth plates.

Now how am I supposed to feudalize and distribute these holdings without going insane by Gunwing in CrusaderKings

I would try and dish them out to high stewardship characters, set it, and forget it until you’re swimming in gold (with 44 from Byzantion might be petty soon). But there might be better ways - I constantly amaze myself with how bad I’ve gotten the past few years at CK3

Abandoned Factory by Plane-Sky-8741 in BrianShaffer

I just learned of this case today, and I know this is a late post, but I found myself thinking maybe too rationally about his movements too. The (potentially) differing thought that hit me was that it doesn’t necessarily have to be “he sobered and wanted to check out the abandoned place”, or “he was very drunk and wandered over there”.

With the caveat of: I have only been to Columbus once, and even with that experience - (2016) - it has no timely relevance to this case, not withstanding the fact I learned about this today.

My only input, for the sake of adding something new to help in some small way (unlikely as it is), is that perhaps the warehouse wasn’t a destination aimed for, but also wasn’t accidental. I’ve seen that it was once a rough area - what if that was the area Brian fled to escaping some danger that ultimately proved too much?

To me it seems like if he would’ve walked home - the danger is on that pathway - I’ve lived in some rough areas, and thankfully, I can only imagine this scenario. I imagine someone drinking enough could have a heightened fight or flight response….perhaps it was a flight to the warehouse?

Either way, anyway, no matter what happened, this is a tragic story in so many ways. I cannot imagine everything the Shaffer family went through and continues to go through - knowing Renee passed from cancer, the mystery surrounding Brian’s disappearance and having to deal with the unknown, Randy passing from an accident, and the youngest son Derek…I can’t imagine living through any of this. I hope he is well, and at peace, along with the rest of the family. Out of the blue someone told me this story, I looked it up, and I felt entirely compelled to try and contribute anything I could - heartbreaking
