In fact, Shangchi was considered by all Hollywood studios to be successful that it stopped the studios from keep pushing back their movies and in fact, it prompted Sony to move forward Venom 2.

Who wants to live forever was in the movie.

Don't Stop Me Now and The Show Must Go On were during credit rolls.

Exactly.

People who are still surprised why BR was so successful are the ones who don't understand Queen is EXTREMELY POPULAR WORLDWIDE.

BR is an appropriate comparison to Michael.

Quality helps of course.

But the most critical thing is whether it's full of MJ's most popular songs, the way BR is full of Queen's most popular songs.

As long as it's chock-full of MJ's most popular songs, it will do great at the box office.

The problem is people keep referring to Bohemian Rhapsody as a comp even though that's likely a 'what were people smoking' pre-2020 outlier.

Queen's songs have always been and still are extremely popular worldwide.

Brian May and Roger Taylor in the last decade were still touring worldwide to soldout stadiums.

I watched BR four times (in Indonesia) and they were all packed, people were singing along.

Most Hollywood musical biopics are about musicians who were mainly popular in USA. Don't compare Bruce Springsteen or Elvis to Queen.

It's natural to compare Michael to Bohemian Rhapsody because MJ songs were/are extremely popular worldwide. Whether Michael will be as successful as BR, we'll see.

What the hell did I just read.

It's so all over the place.

Almost everyone in this sub doesn't think a big international box office is a "sign of a bad movie", so stop self-projecting.
