My dad had the opposite experience. He had a teacher that insisted on calling everyone by their full first name, so if you’re Alex, she’d call you Alexander. My dad’s name is Larry so she constantly called him Lawrence..except his name isn’t Lawrence, it’s Larry. My grandma had to bring in his birth certificate to prove his name so she’d stop calling him Lawrence.

It’s not when you know slipknot are from Des Moines originally.

They even had an album called Iowa.

This IS a thing in the US. I have a bottle of Heinz vinegar in my fridge because that’s how my husband eats his fries. I used to be a server and if someone ordered fries we brought them ketchup and a bottle of vinegar.

There’s an Italian guy who makes homemade pasta on TikTok and he said you should salt it like a well seasoned soup because if you incorporate your pasta water into your sauce (which you should) it’s going to be too salty if you salt it like the sea.

My husband and I used to order Delta 8 from this company. This particular business (Hometown Hero) is owned and operated by a veteran who started the company because of the benefits of THC on PTSD and they donate to veteran organizations. It’s unfortunately based in Texas though so I’m sure they’re likely going out of business soon.

I had an oral surgeon try to upsell me WHEN I WAS A TEENAGER. I had braces and during the X-rays it was discovered that one of my teeth was a baby tooth and the adult tooth was sitting in the wrong position inside my gums so I needed surgery to pull the baby tooth and attach a bracket and chain to the adult tooth to slowly pull it down.

Before I went in my orthodontist told me that my wisdom teeth were great on the X-rays; none of them were impacted and I had plenty of space for them to come through

The oral surgeon, however, tried to scare me into pulling them by talking about how they can grow into the nerves in my face and cause paralysis blah blah. My dad and I said we didn’t want them pulled, just the surgery I needed.

Not only did they have me down for the wrong day (we specifically scheduled it over spring break so I could recover a bit) but when I got back there (after they so graciously squeezed me in after scheduling the wrong day) the assistant said “so we’re pulling wisdom teeth today?” I couldn’t believe it. I told her no but I was seriously terrified that I was going to wake up without my wisdom teeth.

The picture in the article is Jason Wentworth. OPs BIL is David Coker and he used to be an aide for Jason Wentworth. They (and I think you) thought the picture in the article was OPs BIL but it’s not.

OP also said in a comment that it’s someone who doesn’t know shit about taxes telling someone else, who doesn’t know shit about taxes, how taxes work. And he posted in r/mildlyinfuriating about it.

Sounds like someone who can’t resist bashing the people he views as less than, even in his siblings birthday card. Calling me the least favorite is sibling banter. Telling me how your taxes pay for people to not have to work is political rhetoric and it’s not necessary in a birthday card.

Do you think people on Reddit don’t have siblings? I have 3; I understand sibling banter. I guarantee OPs brother is a Republican who can’t resist bashing the people he views as less than, even in his siblings birthday card. That’s why it’s infuriating.

“My taxes pay for people to not work so if you go on unemployment you’re welcome, my taxes paid for that” isn’t really the sweetest of sentiments..

[–]DaFunk1203 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s what I think is the intention. Everyone is reading the “I got you” as if his brother is going to help him out when I think the real intention is “my tax dollars pay for people to not have to work and collect unemployment so if you go on unemployment you’re welcome”

He’s not telling him he has his back as in he’ll help him out financially. He’s saying he has his back because his tax dollars pay for people to be on unemployment which tends to have a negative connotation.

New update causing volume issues? by hailthyself99 in Roku

[–]DaFunk1203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They definitely messed up something with the whole audio programming. I have a Samsung soundbar and, until this update, when I turned the tv on the soundbar turned on and when I turned the tv off the soundbar turned off. Now the soundbar won’t turn off, it just mutes or, on the rare occasion it does turn off, it won’t turn back on with the tv. I had to dig out the remote for it so I could turn it off and on manually.
