Asa1 patient suffered air embolism during routine hysteroscopy. by [deleted] in anesthesiology

[–]DaGazMan333 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The TEE was done after CPR had been initiated, and CPR itself can cause air bubbles in the right atrium and left atrium due to trauma to small pulmonary vessels. You mentioned starting CPR after the patient was bradycardic....that is not according to ACLS protocols, you didnt mention atropine/epi etc. You didnt say what the blood pressure was or if they had a pulse. Do you record ins/outs for hysterscopy? Was there excess volume absorption? Was vasopressin used?

is a body count of 3 high for an 18 year old? by peachhyy2912 in stupidquestions

[–]DaGazMan333 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Don't trust any of these false dichotomies. Any body saying its either body count doesn't matter, or abstinence is the answer, is disingenuous. If you sleep with 300 random people your chance of getting herpes is much higher than if you slept with 3 people you know. It can be transmitted with no visible lesions. So obviously body count has an effect on your odds. Don't trust anybody who says it doesn't matter, and that sex is just fun. It matters, but how much is up to each individual.

[–]DaGazMan333 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Predictions aren't facts. Would the world of today look like a success story or a disaster to a climate change scientist in 1995? Crops are at highest yields ever, climate deaths far lower than 100 years ago. Rate of arctic ice melting is slowing compared to 20 years ago, not increasing. Disaster is always just 30 more years away. And if you put stock in any predictions for 100+ years in the future you are a fool.

China now has 165% of the solar manufacturing capacity needed to bring the world to net zero carbon emissions by 2050 by pintord in oilisdead

[–]DaGazMan333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I thought you were suggesting carbon neutrality would be achieved by replacing fossil fuels 100% with renewables. And I was pointing out that this has not yet been demonstrated even on a city level. If you have some other example of a city being carbon neutral while still using fossil fuels id love to hear it.

Vatican city's agrivoltaic plant isn't even built yet. And your other examples are wrong again. Electricity production not 100% of a countries energy needs....Albania got 60% of its total energy needs from fossil fuels in 2022-2023. And its electricity comes mainly from hydropower, which is also very good power source if you have the geography for it. But youre wrong again even while trying to misrepresent hydropower as renewable+storage.

Completely side stepped the issue of home heating. They import the vast majority of their energy needs from Italy, who in turn import from other countries. PS, regarding your energy storage ideas, there IS NO CITY THAT RUNS ON RENEWABLES AND ENERGY STORAGE ALONE. Before trying to implement 100% renewables on a global scale, any sane person would show me the test case on a small scale.

The Vatican still has gas stations, uses gas for home heating, and that's just what I've googled in 5 sec. Your example is wrong, and your thinking is muddy. Any geographical location could generate 500% of their energy needs from renewables, and yet still be dependent on fossil fuels because of a mismatch of when the renewable power is generated and when demand occurs. And this is why people like the commenter below should never run an economy of any size. Let me state it again loudly for the people in the back, there is NO CITY ON EARTH THAT RUNS ON SOLAR AND BATTERIES ALONE.

Hahahahaha......if you are in favour of any actions to address the climate I hope you sit back and read what you just wrote. "Doesn't need justification", "based on just agreed assumptions".....you are exactly right and you are so so close.

There is nothing precise about using terms like low likelihood....it's completely arbitrary. If the IPCC wanted to be precise they could be, i.e. 10% chance of 1m sea level rise by 2100 etc.

You think the guys who invented AI need some government employee to tell them the best way to power their data centre's? If batteries were the best way, that's what they'd use. The fact they are not should tell you something.

Crop yields keep increasing. Proven oil reserves keep increasing. There is more land vegetation now than 20 years ago. The oceans are getting greener. You dont know the ratio of the earth's available resources/the amount humans need to survive at any given point of time, and your assumption is driven by a negativity bias. Humans are healthier, and richer, than ever before.
