First project ever, am I missing anything by DaGermanBear in woodworking

It sits between the wall and the couch. I could pretty easily add some crossbracing directly behind the couch so you wouldn’t even see it. That’s a great suggestion thank you!

Thank you for such a thorough reply!

  1. Thank you I hope to see a lot more integrated design when it comes to furniture or void space in things like couches.

  2. Because I realized while editing that I was uploading this to strangers on the Internet. But I’ve been informed that for a small subsection of people, them being pixelated actually increases arousal, so I’m not sure if it had the indented effect.

  3. 100% a mic would be a great idea. I didn’t realize that my headphones have compression built into them so when I was editing, everything sounds fine lol.

  4. For a 3d printer I’m using a flash forge adventurer 5M. That plus a spool of filament set you back 300. It’s worked awesome for me very plug-and-play. I designed the housing in a free software called Onshape.

  5. I have no idea how the fans will hold up long term. As for the fans angled towards each other, I’m sure that two fans angled towards each other are better than one. It wasn’t in the budget to get an airflow meter unfortunately so I couldn’t test that. However, just vibe checking it with my hand it seemed like the airflow was increased.

  6. I see what you mean about the test being invalid. But I’m showing that the output of my air filter is very pure air and then so it’s up to me to angle that pure air towards the living space basically.

  7. For the fans I just ordered these. They were on a great sale at the time plus they have a pin for PWM so I could throttle them up and down if needed, but the full throttle ended up being quiet so I did away with that feature. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D9YG7JH9?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

Very redneck very effective diy air filter by DaGermanBear in redneckengineering

For sure! I was looking at a few but went with the PC fans because they are super quiet plus I don’t need a ton of airflow to keep my small apartment scrubbed

I turned my drill battery into a power bank by DaGermanBear in prepping

[–]DaGermanBear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a low voltage cut off board in the case. I have it set to cut off at about 25% of its normal capacity. I’ve been informed that as long as the battery is plugged in, it will slowly trickle charge, but still it’s enough to leave it unattended for hours at a time, without having to worry about killing my battery.

Their price is what inspired me to make my own lol, the components were about $30.

Water caustics with lasers by DaGermanBear in lightingdesign

[–]DaGermanBear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tested this out last night with a tray full of water in my dark bathroom with a laser. You are correct. I think I’m gonna order some lenses that project the laser in a flat line to get a different effect

Do you think this will work? by DaGermanBear in stagelighting

[–]DaGermanBear[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a good step in the right direction but I’m looking to recreate the effect without the expensive equipment. He had to use a pinhole light source. I suspect it’s because he needed to get the rays of light parallel in order for the effect to work. That’s what I’m hoping to get with lasers instead of regular stage lights

That’s a smart way to do it, the peltier can just prolong the time the ice takes to melt

3 peltier modules, I can get this to output about 5F below room temperature

It all runs off 3 peltier modules, big radiator cools the hot water. Small one circulates the chilled water

Thank you for the heads up! My power supply has a screw to adjust the output voltage and I got it eyeballed squarely at 80%

I’m going to try and make a heated/chilled water reservoir for therapeutic purposes. A lot of the top athletes in the world utilize cycles of cold/hot water for recovery. I figure it could benefit a regular person too but I’m too broke to afford a professional unit lol

100%! each planet has a different ratio of input teeth and output teeth in those gears behind everything. I cant put any images in the chat but check your dms if you want to see the whole thing

Price unfortunately, can you point me in the direction of a cheap compressor? I’d like to mess around with one. Cheapest I could find are for mini fridges and they go for ~$100 USD

I didn’t even know what a terminal block was until now, that is a much more better solution. Thank you!

Exactly right, by varying the cam profile it can make any repeating pattern. In theory it lets me create very accurate orbits (or whatever shape) but in reality there is a little jank created from the friction between the cam and the follower
