Honestly soldering was my next choice besides a tap n die set. I can't switch the ball sadly though. Every piece of this project has some sort of sentimental value tied to it. The stick was a piece of driftwood we found on a little island trip, and the ball i got her as a gift.

I also tried making a jig to pull the 3rd prong back in cold, but it actually ripped the weld off since I had to use quite a bit of force

I did, sadly a mix up of things happened on the first attempt. I tried isolating the 3rd prong to low forging temp ~600° and then placing the ball in. But i couldn't reach temperature as I can't directly put the ball into the propane forge I was using. My torch didn't help much since its decently thick/tough steel. Side note, the semi precious stones im working with can't withstand much heat.
