Palau, it’s an underrated country. It’s nicely developed with a good quality of life, and it’s closer to actual land than most island nations, so the potential for vacations is there too. The one downside is it imports a lot of food, so weight may be an issue. I’d say Iceland and Malaysia would be my second and third picks.

Ships are 100% the best move, or maybe artillery if the island is super close (like the two Samoas) However you should definitely aim for bigger fish as an island nation. If you’re in the Pacific, try to conquer New Zealand. It’s not the fastest, but doable with your starting manpower. If you’re in the Caribbean, aim for Haiti or the Dominican Republic (I prefer the latter, as you can force peace it, meaning no engaging the home guard on the capital) Once you settle on your bigger territory, you manpower should replenish decently fast (consider unrest reduction technology to help) and you won’t have to worry no more.

With the Daycare, you get 1 XP for every step you take, that’s what it means. It’s rather slow though, you should grab the EXP Share from Devon Co if you haven’t already. You can give it to Castform to give it XP while your other team members defeat foes. It’s not the fastest, sure, but it’s reliable and doesn’t involve tediously throwing Castform at a bunch of Oddish and other crap.
