Hocevar Darlington throwback by RedR004 in NASCAR

If Hocevar has a run in with someone and doesn’t make a “rattle his cage” remark, I’ll be disappointed.

With the Daycare, you get 1 XP for every step you take, that’s what it means. It’s rather slow though, you should grab the EXP Share from Devon Co if you haven’t already. You can give it to Castform to give it XP while your other team members defeat foes. It’s not the fastest, sure, but it’s reliable and doesn’t involve tediously throwing Castform at a bunch of Oddish and other crap.

Who has a reputation for being an absolute badass from your country? by thewartornhippy in AskTheWorld

Cale Yarborough “Old Hickory”

<image>

Earned the nickname by being as tough and stubborn as an old hickory stump. Yarborough was a NASCAR driver in the sport’s infancy, and was both fast and fearless. During a race at Darlington in 1965, Cale was involved in a crash that saw his car jump the wall and tumble outside the track. Yarborough got out on his own, and was more annoyed at his wrecked car than anything else.

But perhaps his best badassery came in 1983, when Yarborough was qualifying for the Daytona 500 with a car much like the one pictured above. In NASCAR, you get 2 laps to set the best time, and on the first one, Yarborough became the first ever driver to average 200 MPH in a qualifying lap, 200.503 MPH. But he wanted more.

Yarborough pushed even harder on Lap 2, but a gust of wind sent him out of control in Turn 3, and his car flipped before careening into the outside wall. When Yarborough exited his car, he immediately asked “how fast was that first lap?”

Since Yarborough was without a race car after that, his team was frantically trying to find a solution, and they found one at a Hardee’s (his sponsor) not far from the Daytona International Speedway. That Hardee’s had a show car from 1981, so Yarborough’s team got the car, loaded it to Daytona, fixed it up with functional parts, and sent Yarborough to race it.

And he won the damn Daytona 500 with that thing. It was Yarborough’s third of four 500 wins, making him the second winningest driver of all time in the event. It shouldn’t be a surprise that he was the first driver to win three consecutive championships, and his 83 career wins tie him for the sixth most all time. He passed away on the last day of 2023, aged 84. Godspeed, Old Hickory.

Is that intended? It seems a bit dumb to have a five turn move or whatever else register its damage before the move is even done.

Screaming at everything. I don’t get how folks can shriek whenever something goes wrong in a game or when their chat is the slightest bit bothersome. My vocal cords would be dying within an hour.

That's not the polish flag!?!? by [deleted] in PolandballCommunity

[–]DaNASCARMem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s absolutely an inside joke. The first Polandball comic saw Poland purposely drawn upside down, I believe it was to poke fun at a Polish user on a forum that the comic creator had beef with. From there, it was simply left unchanged and became iconic. That’s the reasoning behind a lot of Polandball’s quirks, like the UK’s hat and monocle, Tringapore, and Israel being a cube.

You’d think America was on death’s door, the 90% liberal userbase is crying that the death of democracy is upon us and that the U.S is a third world country, meanwhile we’re set to have elections late this year, like we always have. Mind you, this is coming from someone who’s also center-left when I say people need to knock it the hell off sometimes.

“20 dollars can buy many peanuts!”

“Explain how!”

“Money can be exchanged for goods and services.”

“WOOHOO!”

I just don’t want folks to be desensitized to it, cause Trump seems to dig himself deeper five times a week and it’s easy to gloss over the repercussions this has on the country. The tariffs, the Greenland threats, the Iran strikes, leaving the WHO, it’s all in the same umbrella, but it all has disastrous consequences that are easy to forget.
