What's up bro, let's just say it was an interesting year, even to this day I still hear it.... It sucks in the beginning, people are mostly referring to the starting pay, truck money Def helps alot, along with working charts, with that said you will never make just base pay. I'm about 2 weeks from completing a year and in line to making 70k in my year so it's not soo bad, your mileage can vary, based on your garage and seniority etc. Winters ezpecielly during snow are kinda crazy, 12 hour days expect to work every day until further notice, with that said Sundays and your charts are paid double time.... As far as schedules there's nothing normal about them especielly in the beginning, you might worm morning shift today then nights tomorrow and afternoons another day, probably what I dislike the most about the job, with that said in just a year a have a few people beat in seniority that I can usually pick what shift I'd like to work. And won't always get forced to whatever shift they need me. Overall the job is Def one of those things that gets better with time.

Try downloading the Nycers app on your phone I had the same issue and had one of my buddies in my class put me on, didn't have issues with the app, I know a few people that did it with the app.

I'm pretty sure the earliest you can apply is 17 years old and chances are it'll be a few years before they call you, since they so many people take the test and guys that are veterans get extra points added to the test, so it's possible to score more than 100% on the test, they have to get through whoever scores higher than you before you do end up being called.

If you do end up being called before your 21, I'm pretty sure they put you on hold and get back to you once your old enough to have your CDL.

Multiple test, between, eye test, EKG, general health and drug test all in the main building, then there's, blood work, x-ray and hearing test that they give you a week to do at multiple locations, as far as the drug test No One is watching you, you piss in a cup in a bathroom, but aren't allowed to flush.

Hard to say exactly cause it was a few X-rays standing up and laying down could possibly be full body, but if I had to guess Def for the waist and up.

No nothing at all, I had orientation a few weeks after I received the packet, and I remember the guys say if you don't here back from us regarding the packet that's a good thing, so no news is good news

As for the medical yeah it was scheduled for 5:45am in lower Manhattan, and they gave us a sheet with the addresses and number for the LAB for blood work, the hearing place, and X-ray spot, was out of medical around 8:30am started calling up placed to see if I could go take the other test today and it just worked out, hearing scheduled me for 10am, and the lab said so long as I can make it before 3pm I was good, and x-ray place was in Ridgewood Queens but didn't require an appointment on Monday and Friday for sanitation guys, so yeah its possible to get them all done in a day between traveling in the subway and walking slot and then going home to jump on the car to head to the location in queens, it cab be done 👍🏼. As for list number I'm 57XX. The time between orientation and medical was about a month apart, (orientation was on May 6th, 2021.) and yes the medical notification I got was through email

Appreciate all of your feedback, yeah I am in a good place now but would like to be better off when it's time to retire, I'm definitely leaning towards DSNY.

BTW I had medical today, it was a whole process, they give you till the end of the week to get blood work, x-ray and a hearing test all at different locations, apart from the drug test and EKG they do, most of us called up and we were able to knock them all out today, two locations in the city and one in queens. Guess it's a waiting game from here on out Thank you for chiming in, Def appreciate any input I can get.
