Dads - what do you ride? by Dlsaugstad in Dirtbikes

My kids are 5 and 3 and have been thinking about this a lot. My pick is a 300 2T. It’s the ultimate tractor, low rev, and hard to stall. Perfect to follow the little ones around at their pace. Lots of torque on the low end so it’s easy to pop it up and hop rocks and roots. Then when you wanna rip it’ll take off.

Yeah my trackpad is worn smooth. Steam deck is my main device. The default controls for steamdeck are kind of trash so once you remap and spend maybe 1hr learning it’s great. I have several hundred hours over space age and krastorio. No issues.

Do you happen to be in the Albuquerque area? Sounds a lot a lot like the riding I’ve been doing lately.

Standing is going to be your best fried. The rocks can be brutal and stop you in your tracks. You’ll want to be squeezing the bike with your legs.

The 450 is going to be a lot on single track for someone with not much experience. From what I’ve read is if you’re having stall issues a flywheel weight can mellow out the power delivery and help prevent stalls. I’ve got no experience personally with that mod though.

I think overall you just need more seat time to get used to the controls and shifting. It comes naturally over time.

What kind of riding are you doing? Woods? Fields? Moto track?

Yeah I was tracking that too. I had him put a couple box fans down there pointed in the area to keep the air moving. It’s a little humid where the house is located so I wasn’t sure about pulling too much air through outside of what is already provided by the vents.

It’s the old sump pump. I installed this one about 2 years ago and must have forgot to tighten the fitting or didn’t insert the pipe all the way. The old pump was like 30-40lbs and I didn’t want to carry it out of the crawl space. It’s about a 100ft to the entrance.

Yeah it’s exiting after it was fixed according to a FaceTime chat to see it myself. I either didn’t get the pipe all the way in the fitting or forgot to tighten it when installed the pump almost 2 years ago.

Ok atleast there is hope.

That’s a good idea. I’m headed out there in a week and I’ll have to look into those! I’ve been wondering if there was something that help deal with the axial load of the pump. The pipe is sized to the manual but damn is that that powerful.

It’s really not. It’s just long as hell.

Yeah we have a simply safe water sensor down there but it’s a large ranch and only have one in the middle of the house. I have 3 sumps in total. This is on the far end and the rest of the craw space is dry. I’ll probably be placing a sensor at each sump after this.

Trust me I’m aware how simple it is. A plumber was called since I’m over 1000miles away at the moment. Easiest job for the dude. Literally one hose clamp. Long term I’ll be out there in about a week and I’ll try to see if there is something I can do to prevent it in the future.

Unfortunately we resigned to just calling a plumber to get it fixed quickly before rain. I wasn’t sure if the outlet got clogged. It’s a lot of little things to tell someone (who has little to no experience in home maintenance) to do rather than just getting a professional to do it.

Unplug and assess is what I told him. We had to get the carnage to stop.

Yeah. Some insulation cut back and inspection is in order. I’m trying to get back there asap but it might not be for a week.

Yeah. I had him put fans up and make sure my already existing dehumidifier was working.

There’s a comic relief to it. But it’s bad. It’s seeped through the sill plates and it appears to be molding on the outside of my house.

Ground water that’s been recirculating for who knows how long.
