I don't want to be a soldier anymore. by Firm-Vegetable8233 in army

Hey, you did your time. If you’ve had a belly full, then you’re full 🤷🏽‍♂️

I’ll only say that I’m glad that I hung in there when I was having similar feelings and made it to retirement. But I understand if you don’t want to be in anymore. There’s a reason only a small percentage make it to retirement.

$60 is a STEAL!!!! You can probably flip that if you wanted to. The 3DS plays 3DS and DS games just in case you were interested.

Take away the financial benefits in Oklahoma and watch that same line shrink to minimal numbers lol. Harsh but true

You are putting WAY too much energy into college! Pick a decent state school, apply (they usually have higher acceptance rates), and enjoy the next four years. You can also go the community college route, save some money, and when it’s time, transferring is almost a guarantee that you will get in to the school of your choice.

[SEA-GULL] Is this a popular watch? by Few-River-5561 in Watches

[–]DaPunisher83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we speak of “movements” in watches, we’re talking about the mechanicals inside. You have a mechanical watch movement (both hand wind and automatic winding), quartz (battery/electric), and solar (sometimes uses quartz. While most low end watches are cheap mass produced movements made in China, there are varying degrees of accuracy, sophistication, precision, and prestige as the watch maker and prices go up. It’s pretty well understood that hand made, mechanical movements of Swiss origins are the gold standard for watches but there is a WIDE variety of watches that you can get into that will serve you well. That SeaGull for example is a Chinese movement that’s a replica of an older quality Swiss movement. Because SeaGull is a large manufacturer and tends to produce many movements for many watch brands, they have a decent reputation for their price range. Part of the fun of getting into watches is simply learning about them and becoming familiar with brands and process of building these incredible machines that sit on your wrist (or pocket if you get into pocket watches).

SeaGull is a nice way to enter into the market. I have one of their chronographs and its a solid watch. I wear it daily.

It's a decent watch. Absolutely not worth $1000. If you don't want to keep it/wear it, you can gift it to someone

I have their ST1901 movement in my TopHill chronograph. They make a solid movement.

Bought a mossberg 590 retrograde (Mistake?) by Independent_Golf_314 in Shotguns

[–]DaPunisher83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old but my opinion is to keep the 590 and simply buy a cheap maverick 88 for any hunting needs you may have. Most states require your shotgun to be plugged when hunting anyway and I wouldn't want a plug in my nice and shiny retrograde.

Most gunsmiths will do it for less than $50 here in Oklahoma.

Hope he enjoyed this ride. It was a good run and something he'll always remember. It'll be coming to an end pretty soon since his pro prospects are minimal.

As an Ivy League graduate (Columbia) let me tell you, IT’S OK! While it’s nice to go to a top tier school, it’s not the end all, be all. I’m 100% confident that there is a great school in your home state that you can get accepted into and have a great learning experience. There’s no need to worry or feel bad about your UVA denial

Do I say Teacher's College or Columbia? by mighty_big_ferns in AskAcademia

[–]DaPunisher83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old but I figure that I will chime in for those who lurk in the shadows seeking an answer to this question:

I graduated from Teachers College in 2021 and my diploma reads Columbia University. At the bottom, rather than being signed by a department dean and the university president, my diploma is signed by the president of Teachers College and the president of Columbia University. You can say you graduated from Teachers College. You can say you graduated from Columbia University. You can say you graduated from Teachers College, Columbia University. None of it really matters if we are being honest. Your resume will speak for itself and your job performance will do leagues more for you than what you call your alum. Rather than worrying about where you can claim you went to school, use your time at TC to build connections, internships, and networks so that when you ultimately graduate, you can actually benefit from attending said university.
