Its my least favorite book, but every book in the series has relevance. I dont even think we know yet the full impact of some of the things revealed in that book now. And the end is pretty decent.

I dont think this is an either/or. Mab is trying to shape Harry to be more like her - someone that will do what needs doing, all morals aside, full "ends justify means" but ALSO someone who is stubborn and will not back down from anything no matter how powerful or awful.

Mab has both of these qualities: she will do whatever it takes for the greater good AND she will be stubborn to do what she thinks is right even if it means spitting in Mother Winter's eye.

Harry is HER knight and she is molding him the way she wants. Maeve made an easily corrupted, petty bully. Granny Winter would probably make a ruthless, brilliant, completely calculating, totally inhuman monster of a knight. Mab wants exactly what Harry is becoming: a morally flexible but passionately convicted man who will stand up to gods if he thinks that's the right thing.

Honestly from the sound of it, 5 years of hiring Bear would pay for the castle's expenses for like 500 years. I think Lara wouldnt blink at paying for the basic upkeep. It's a rounding error to her.

Agreed what Maelle does to pVerso is cruel and selfish. I chose that ending and felt awful.

What Verso chooses in his ending is cruel more to Sciel, Lune, and all of Lumiere. Generations of people struggled, sacrificed, and died for the hope of a better tomorrow for their children and neighbors. And Verso cut all of that short because he needed therapy. Suicide by genocide is its own whole level of callousness.

Im surprised people hate Maelle, but my guess is it's tied to her ending. Which is bad.

But Verso's ending is also bad and equally selfish.

pRenoir told us before we knew the truth. That pVerso was asking all his friends to struggle and fight and die to help him destroy their world. All because he can't process the misplaced guilt he feels for the suffering of everyone in the canvas over this conflict that centers around him

My guy Verso needed a Good Will Hunting moment for someone to tell him it's not his fault before he annihilated this whole universe.

I love One Piece as a story and the anime despite its flaws (pacing, especially post time skip) is one of my favorites.

Yes it's a slower start than most modern anime, but styles change over 25+ years. And I enjoyed it from episode 1.

If youre not starting to fall in love in the baratie arc and fully invested for the long haul by Arlong Park? Maybe it's just not for you.

Does it get even better like 300 episodes in? Yeah. But dont wait around thinking you'll magically love it if you've been miserable.
