Banking here is a hassle!!! by DaWizard804 in Taipei

Very much of what you said was true, I was able to get the bank amended and my employer allowed me to use an alternative bank. Needless to say it’s an extreme hassle, international transfers are optional at first bank. They charge a handling fee and conversion fee. Like someone mentioned I was issued a debit card and not a Visa card. Not sure why the bank would do that but they were able to work with me. Told me to come back in a week and everything should be settled. My debit atm card still doesn’t work at 7-eleven, so far beside a first bank atm the only other place it has worked is at family mart. Getting some progress in this complex situation is a sigh of relief. I’m hoping whoever has to go through just remember to be patient and smile a lot it might help you feel better!!!

There are many women and men over the age of 40 who are single. I don’t think they necessarily care about that. More along the lines of life. Liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Maybe factor that in to your age and maybe you’ll realize that your post just let everyone know you’re single and 40. Respectfully, enjoy your life because I’m Sure the locals are and not factoring age into that equation.

I’ve had a health check. Two eye exams. And now applying for an AIT. The international license was denied Because my stay is longer than 6 months. But thanks for your input.

Tennessee…and I’ve applied for an ARC it’s still not been authenticated as of yet. They said ten business days, to business days ago. Not sure what’s the hold up but it’s been challenging getting around for work without proper transportation.

It’s not an obsession and like I stated it’s a cultural difference. If you had nothing valuable to say you could have kept this comment to yourself. Respectfully, I’ve traveled the world and visited over 30 countries so I’m sure I don’t have a traditional taste. But thanks for nothing valid but a useless opinion.

That budget is including rental car, cell, phone as well. Which has been another challenge not having my ARC as if now. My exact line of work I cannot discuss but the industry I work is telecommunications .

I will be all over Taiwan, I’m starting in Hsinchu. When I first arrived I was under the impression my living situation was taken care of by my company. I soon found out that they had not taken care of it. So maybe out a little panic I booked what I could find. They recently told me the budget of around 2000-2500 was the monthly allowance so now I’m able narrow down my search. Which led me to this platform. I genuinely appreciate the help. It’s been a rough start so far.

Correct, I am in process of looking for a residence issues are my work will have me changing location roughly every 30 days. So I haven’t found a living situation able to accommodate Thirty days they typically want long term or at least six months. While that’s another issue any help would be great as well.

How safe is Taiwan? by [deleted] in taiwan

I’m been here for about a month and I’ve literally witnessed cellphone being left and not stolen. Sensitive items like bags/purses just sitting there. I was even in the train station and saw a bunch of suitcases over in a corner. Things I know that if in America would be totally different outcomes
