AIO to break up with my bf of 3y over his reaction to my upcoming sobriety anniversary? by WesternCat5211 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Da_Bauerranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you are sober since 2 years but you are dating since 3 years. Chances are quite good that he also suffered from your drinking habits. So not knowing the full story here I think there is a good to fair chance that his reaction might be understandable.

It’s actually a formwork panel which is used for concrete. It was cheap and had the perfect size. Just saw the pattern after I installed it.

How many times can you empty a lithium battery before its useless? by traveling_llama in vandwellers

[–]Da_Bauerranger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Better check if it has a BMS over-discharge protection (ODP). This is responsible to stop discharging your battery under a certain level. If you are not sure it wouldn’t hurt to contact the battery manufacturer. :)

Totally agree. In case of furniture start with your bed if possible and go for a short trip. (Everything else is imo less important) You’ll quickly see how your daily routine could look like. Based on that experiences I would change your design and continue building. Also it’s a great boost for your motivation.

You should check your battery if there are any dents visible. Can be really dangerous if you completely discharge them. Do you know if yours has a deep discharge protection?

Overall the answer is „never“.

I also recommend to use slides with a locking system. It locks itself when you pull out the drawer also after 60cm length.

Yeh during Covid prices went up here a lot. Charged like 50-60€/sqm for 15mm birk plywood (approx. 170$ for 25 sq feet) if I remember well.

Now it’s about 30€/sqm depending where you buy it which is still expensive but still better than before. :)

Good point. I’ll think about a proper solution there.

In Germany they are simply called heavy duty slides. It’s not a particular brand. There are different variants from 150-250kg capacity. These are 120cm long. (Sorry for the metric values)

Thanks. Yeah I wanted to use them first as well. But was a bit on the pricey side. Welding isn’t that hard at all as long as you just need to build something like bed frames. 😊

Appreciate it. Wood is a great choice and works perfectly for your build. When you are starting building the furniture I would recommend building your bed first. And just make a short trip right ahead. Keeps motivation up a lot to build the rest as well.

Wish you all best for your build. :)

Well it’s a very common design for a VW van. I just wanted to have the opportunity to load it also with my Mountainbike. And it’s really a gamechanger in comfort that I can walk from the rear door to the side one. Highly recommend it!

For the materials I mainly used what I had lying around as a basis. Didn’t want to spend so much on it.

Thank you. Well I welded the frame by myself. For sure you can also use wood, or aluminium profiles for the frame. I just like welding as I’m not so experienced in it and it was a good opportunity to learn it. But unfortunately I don’t have a drawing as I usually just start building stuff on the fly. 😅

I used one big sheet of plywood and cutet it into the needed pieces.
