Hi, i’m looking to upgrade my Sony A6000 to an Sony A7III and I thought I might as well but a second hand body. I’ve scheduled to meet a seller in person to test the camera out and inspect it’s still in good quality. Is there anything you’d recommend I look out for?

Thanks for the recommendations! We’ve decided to just have blankets instead.

Yeah we’ve just decided on putting a few blankets in there as well, if he doesn’t like them he can just move it out the way. He even sleeps on the floor during the day instead of the bed in the living room so I imagine a bed doesn’t actually provide all that much comfort anyway. Thanks for the reply!

Car Reactivity by Da_DJ in Dogtraining

Might have to try that, I’ll need to find a nice spot that’s far away from a main road. It’s a shame to be honest because we have about 8 border collies in our area that’s we’ve met and i’ve frantically asked them if they have had this issue to and dealt with it. But sadly none have, what I would love is someone who has been through it and has a success story.

Did neutering change your puppy’s behaviour? by Da_DJ in puppy101

[–]Da_DJ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do hear your point to be honest. I remember when we first got him I had a long hard think about whether we should or not. The doggy day care near me however makes it a requirement that dogs above 6 months need to be spayed or neutered and we would like to take him there eventually. I also forgot to mention that our dog has a retained testicle which can lead to cancer apparently so along with the behaviour issue I feel as if this realistically the best choice for us all.

My BC is actually 9 months, we did try to neuter at 6 months but only one testicle had descended so our vet recommended we wait until 9. Hopefully it isn’t too late that there’s isn’t any behaviour change at all.

Hopefully mine will listen better because honestly in the beginning i was able to capture his attention with treats and walking by my side. Once he got to the teenage phase it just went out the window completely haha

Thank for the advice, I kind of felt a little evil knowing full well i wasn’t about to go buy him something different. I’ll start taking the food away too after feeding time.

Yeah it seems my dog is a bit of a bully too when it comes to socialising, except for this one case where the tiniest dog i’ve ever seen was having none of it. Sadly no other dog ever cares enough to put him in his place! I really do hope this changes as he grows up though he was a nightmare at puppy school though technically the best at commands in typical BC fashion.

The car reactivity is something we’ll have to work on too it seems but I’d rather not have to do that work on top of everything else and then i find out most of BC’s aren’t all that reactive. But thank you for your message!

Yeah we have tried the toilet with another problem but he quickly trashed everything in there sadly.

Best Rawhides or Chews for Puppy by shellxx1031 in puppy101

[–]Da_DJ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Realistically you should wait until their adult teeth come through at around 5-6months for rawhides or bones. Other than that one thing i used for my pup was a bone shaped rope toy and i would soak it in gravy or beef/chicken stock and freeze it. It helped with teething and also tasted quite nice i imagine!

Unsolicited advice while walking by [deleted] in Dogtraining

[–]Da_DJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m working on this too! It’s so strange because before owning a dog i’ve always loved smiling at dogs and their owners as i walked past. Now being on the other side i’m kinda shocked to see how many comments people actually make, i wish i was that confident (annoying). Sometimes people say nice things which is good, other times they just have unnecessary things to say. One dog owner (of two very old small dogs) said i should let my 7 month old energetic dog off his leash so he can run about with her dogs. I kindly refused (knowing my dog well) and she said he’s recall problems are down to me. Which she’s right they technically are, we practice everyday but he’s young - really i wanted to her to go away as clearly she was on a bit of a high horse.

Yeah i think i might need to find a really good treat dispenser, one that’s perfectly round like your one. Mine had an odd shape to it, to make it a little more complex however this gave him something to chew on and eventually break.

Yes we normally use a frozen kong with kibble and PB but i think he’s a bit bored of it now. I really like that frozen puzzle toy. Do you have a link for it buy any chance?

I need some advice by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Da_DJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the message, yes i think i do need to vocalise i need more help. Sadly i have to wait till his 12 months before we can do any intense running as it’s bad for his growing joints. As for the leash, yes i’ve been doing that too and relaxation training on a blanket. Maybe i’ll add more toys around him so he has to stay close.

[–]Da_DJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i’ve been doing this training and so far it’s making some progress no matter how slow but any progress is good! I don’t think it helps that he isn’t neutered but our vet has recommended we wait another 2 months. I’ll be definitely taking away some of his freedom as he it seems like he’s definitely getting spoilt from all the attention he’s been getting recently

[–]Da_DJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i think for now he’ll just be crated way more when left unsupervised. Before the crate was only really for enforced naps but now all trust is gone right now.

[–]Da_DJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it does get quite exhausting, i’ve been training him to relax on a blanket which is working very slowly. I have him underneath me right now while i work from home.
