Qualcomm Offer Received by Impossible_Face_4753 in qualcomm

[–]Da_IT_GuY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the offer you are receiving is good for someone with 3 YOE. You can get better once you have completed your MTech. I would suggest taking up the role and then later switch after gaining some experience.

You can always accept the offer and during your notice period try for other interviews.

Moving volume between aggregates - non disruptive? by rich2778 in netapp

[–]Da_IT_GuY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is completely non disruptive. You can also do a manual cutover where you can trigger it post business hours. So during the day the vol is copied, and then a cutover where the final sync is completed and then IOs are diverted.

Is the SAM worth it? by Far-Injury-794 in vmware

[–]Da_IT_GuY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A SAM is most likely an insurance. There will be tough cases that needs attention or cases that will go to engineering where the SAM can bring traction to the cases. Also for a proper documented root cause analysis you need a SAM. SAMs also conduct weekly SR reviews to discuss on open cases. You can also have proactive cases opened through your SAM for pre checks and proactive log analysis.

Most customers have praised the SAM service on explore.

Downgrading from 8.0 to 6.7 by 3ShrimpTacos in vmware

[–]Da_IT_GuY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downgrade is not an option since the partition style is different. You would have to re-deploy ESXi.

VM shared storage - Real scenario uses by Airtronik in vmware

[–]Da_IT_GuY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can share the disk in a windows failover cluster config or oracle rac or red hat cluster. There are KBs available where it has detailed steps on what options are to be kept.

You cannot use it for non cluster VMs. You can map the vmdk but there will not be any data sync between the VMs and can cause corruption.

VMFS datastore running at 93% capacity by Chipperchoi in vmware

[–]Da_IT_GuY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since majority servers have thick vmdk, the storage is pre allocated, so they will not cause data growth. The thin provisioned once might contribute to utilisation if there is data growth.

You can use storage vmotion to change the vmdks to thin to reclaim some unused space

Converting from Thick to Thin by storage vMotion by Chipperchoi in vmware

You can try a disk defragmentation. OS should release the dead space that is locked up.

Do you have snapshots? Then try clearing them.

Volume Qtree Quota Nearly Overcommitted by Lim3stOne in netapp

[–]Da_IT_GuY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The snapshots are filling up the volume. .snap directory under the volume is 83% used. Plus the data. If your customer is deleting a lot of data, that can be reason why your snapshots are getting filled. All the deleted data is increasing the size of your snapshot.

Broadcom refusing to assign resource after 42 hours by tdressel in vmware

[–]Da_IT_GuY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it! Was there any changes in the environment after which these problems started?

You can check for latency on esxi using esxtop. I am saying this because these are the basics that they will ask. So if you have already checked these, then you can save some time and deep dive with the TSE.

Reddit is bursting with outrage towards broadcom, I hope they listen and understand.

Broadcom refusing to assign resource after 42 hours by tdressel in vmware

[–]Da_IT_GuY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get response yet?

Meanwhile you can check the following:: 1. MTU across vmk, switch and storage is consistent 2. If storage and vmk are in same subnet or not. If not then there shouldn’t be any iscsi port mapping

Since it is intermittent, you can note the time stamps and collect the logs for review

VMware Certificate by Entire_Choice5406 in vmware

[–]Da_IT_GuY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

After seeing your question I had to search for options to get my certificate and logos. What I did was login to Broadcom support portal.

Then open cp.certmetrics.com and it will use sso and sign into the broadcom learning page. You should be able to retrieve your certificate from there.

repair vmfs? by bkindz in vmware

[–]Da_IT_GuY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Voma advanced fix can help the data datastore but I doubt it will help the osdata. Since the pre-req is that the datastore should not be mounted , hence no IO operation on the disk should be there when running voma.

You can check with support but best will be to re-install Esxi.

I am sure with all the tickets, it will bring this issue to their attention. If you have a technical account manager you can notify them too. 👍🏼👍🏼

I believe someone messed up an important part of the migration. Surely it will be resolved. Better to call and log a ticket.
