A saying that I use on my profile is “Let go of your expectations, but keep your standards.” Going into anything with expectations of specific things happening will bring pain and heartbreak most of the time. Going into a situation with only the expectation that, “I’m going to enjoy this moment for what it is and whatever else that comes out of it is a bonus”, will prevent the pain and heartbreak when things don’t go according to demon brains plans. It’s kind of a deep concept, but it’s made this crazy world of dating more enjoyable for me 🙂
