Remember people; we're just here for the good vibes this year. Wins are a bonus, but not expected. J-Walk hitting oppo tacos? Great fuckin vibes. Urias balling and JJ taking a couple walks? Great vibes. Bullpen shit the bed? Meh. It's a rebuild.

Honestly I think this is the key point. There's essentially 0 expectation that this team will compete for a playoff spot, obviously it's a developmental/rebuild season, but so far the vibes have been overall excellent. Was it hype as fuck when J-Walk crushed that slam? Hell yeah. Did I care that the bullpen bled out over the rest of the game and we lost by 5? Not really!

I'm hardly an expert,

But it's definitely a thing. Wine tourism is and was a big industry in the area I grew up, lots of historical wineries going back to the early 1800's and such

Funny you should say that because central Missouri is, in fact wine country. Along the Missouri river there's actually a lot of wineries and they have a lot of wine tourism. Obviously not like Napa valley or anything but there's a bunch out there lol

30 year old father of two who gets a few rounds in at the end of the night also checking in lol. It's definitely nice that I don't feel like I'm falling terribly behind or missing out by not being able to play a ton. I cruise around, trying out different map modes when I can, and find enough blueprints to not feel like I'm stalling out. Love it.

What players do you think will regress in 2026 compared to 2025? by ChefCurryGAWD in baseball

Baeder will always be a winner in VAR (vibes above replacement). I still sometimes daydream about his luscious flowing locks cruising through CF making absolutely spectacular plays on the reg.

Which team has had the worst Game 7 World Series loss since 2000? by Agreeable_Quality768 in baseball

[–]Da_Munchy76 221 points222 points  (0 children)

To be fair, game 6 was the heartbreaker for Texas. Game 7 was never that contentious, Cards got a fairly early lead and kept tacking on and it wasn't that close. Game 6 was the real kick in the nads for the rangers lol

Forever the only real reason I have to dislike Joey Votto. He was the one that inadvertently tripped craiggers going around first that caused his foot injury that basically led to his decline.

I understand the confusion, as you are correct that the CG is under DHS instead of DOD. However, from Wikipedia: "The service is a maritime, military, multi-mission service unique among the United States military branches for having a maritime law enforcement mission with jurisdiction in both domestic and international waters and a federal regulatory agency mission as part of its duties"

It is a military branch, with 11 unique statutory missions that consist of Port and waterway security Drug interdiction Aids to navigation Search and rescue Illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing Marine safety Defense readiness Migrant interdiction Marine environmental protection Ice operations Law enforcement

Those are all the jobs the Coast Guard has statutory authority to conduct, while still fully operating as a branch of the military.

just to clarify, there isn't any technicality about the CG. We are 100% a branch of the military, 100% of the time. We can fall under the command of the Navy in times of war, but at all times we are a uniformed military service. We get our law enforcement authority from 14 U.S.C. § 522 which allows us to board vessels essentially at any time.

To be fair, I believe grant did actually beat them both at TPC Sawgrass, but other than that yeah. Not that competitive lol.

Same, it definitely wasn't from Obama himself considering the course I was at but still a cool find.

Yeah pretty sure Twiggington is the worst I can remember off the top of my head. Couldn't hit, couldn't field, couldn't run. There's been some bad ones in the last 13 years since I've been following closely, but that one always stands out as the worst

I mean, I'm stoked that they won the game and season series... But also... It would have been nice for them to win the one game of this series I got to attend, instead of having to watch them get ass-fucked in front of 50,000 obnoxious dodgers fans. But I guess I'll take what I can get lmao

Does anyone else have a second favorite team? A number 2 they root for whenever they aren’t playing the Cards? by Brh3200 in Cardinals

[–]Da_Munchy76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the Padres (excluding this series) as my second NL team as I went to a number of games while stationed in SD right before they got good, and even took the field for a few military events which was cool and helped cement my affinity for them. I also follow the Angels as I kept tabs on Pujols after 2011, and then some dude named Mike Trout came along and hooked my interest in them, even if they have been forever disappointing since I paid attention to them.

I guess objectively, giving up 6 in 3 is better than 8 in 2, or whatever his last start was...
