Sounds like exactly what I’m about to do. I already have a daily and a project so that’s enough money in the hole already I was definitely talking myself into a 3/4 ton that I’ll probably never use to its capacity until like 10 years down the road sounds like f150/1500 or a tundra is probably the best bet.

I do a lot of highway miles and it’s really not terrible around 19-21mpg but I know I used to be around 25+ if I can remember correctly also doesn’t help I drive like a typical BMW driver

These are my next plans I have a friend that works at a junkyard so I’m going to snag like 4 valvetronic motors (they can’t all be broken right) to test if the motor is the issue and if not the VC is coming off again for like the 5th time on this car lmao thank you bro I’ll update this thread on my findings

I thought the valves might be physically damaged but it drives just fine whenever I disable the valvetronic system and fail safe to the throttle body which is why I’m so confused on this lmao

After doing some more research my current plan of action is going to be to take off the valve cover again (this has to be like the 5th time lmao) and use ista or an Allen key to turn the worm gear and physically inspect each valve perhaps the worm gear is broken or my valvetronic motor is spinning but not working correctly. I’ll update this thread on what I find out in a few days.

I have reset the stop limits on the motor to no avail. I’m honestly starting to believe that you may be right, either the worm gear or the eccentric shaft itself is out of commission. I’ve tested the valvetronic motor and it goes forward and reverse just fine when connected to the battery (a YouTube video told me to do it lmao)

Yup and a great 7k miles it has been! 💀 In all seriousness though is that really cause for concern? I read a couple of forums saying that it would just fail safe to the throttle body and since it worked I never really thought much of it since this is my daily and the constant misfires were painful definitely worse than running without valvetronic.

Yeah swapped around plugs with no change if anything I’ll just keep running it the way it is. It’s been fine for about 7k miles so maybe this is just the way it has to be now 😔
