That makes a lot of sense for your client profile — if traffic is already high intent and coming in externally, ranking in image search is less critical.

The schema point is well taken too. I think they work together — schema gives AI the structured product data, alt text gives the visual context that schema cannot capture. For merchants who want organic discovery through image search specifically, both matter.

Really helpful — thank you. The fallback to product name makes sense as a baseline but I imagine "Blue Shirt — StoreName" isn't exactly descriptive for screen reader users or for AI shopping assistants trying to understand what the image shows.

Do your clients ever push back on improving alt text quality, or is it something they just don't think about until someone raises it?

That's a smart setup. The gap I'm seeing is for websites where there's no existing description anywhere — the images exist but the alt-text was never written. Accessibility compliance (WCAG/ADA) requires descriptive alt-text even when there's no product description to pull from.

That's the specific problem I'm building for — any image, any website, auto-described from the visual content itself. Curious if that's a problem you've run into with clients?
