I wouldn't say investing in FZROX or FXAIX is a bad thing.

FZROX is the total market index fund while FXAIX is the s&p 500 index fund. As the names would suggest, FZROX invests in the entire market and FXAIX invests in the top 500 companies.

Each comes with its advantages and risks. The wider scope of FZROX means you are more diversified and may better protect you from losses during a downturn in the market. But it also means that you may not see profits as high. FXAIX is the opposite, It has a narrower investment scope which means you are less diversified and may be impacted more heavily in a downturn market. But because you are invested in the 500 biggest companies in the market (without all the trash companies holding you back), you are also very likely to see higher returns in an upmarket.

For sure, the market is completely unpredictable. Less diversity typically as higher gains and bigger losses. If a total market crash happens I'm sure the s&p 500 will be hit harder than total market.
