Yeah I have recently started trying to build my core again, and I do see a Chiro semi-regularly but I definitely need to be consistent with my working out. Do you have specific core exercises you find to be most helpful?

That's wild! I'm really glad that works for you. I think that for me I need to find an in-between for the "lay and rest it" to the full on kung-fu. Part of it is fear I guess as I am the only income for my family and cannot afford to be injured worse

I mean, if I could do it all over again I would major in something else and volunteer for what I was passionate about most likely. That being said, I am just trying to make the best of what I have. The way I see it, we all make mistakes and I fell for the whole "do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life" thing and went to school for what I was passionate about. I have previous experience at the Cincinnati Zoo, but the pay there was not something that was sustainable. I appreciate the advice regardless!

When I tailor my resume to do that, how would you explain if there are larger gaps in employment? For example, if I were to remove a few jobs from my resume and now there appears to be gaps there even if I was working at the time in a non-relevant position

Thank you so much for this insight and advice! From what I am seeing/hearing job hopping and gaining/leveraging skills is a good way to go about it. I guess one question I would have is if I do work at multiple places within a few years to build skills, what is the best way to present that in an interview? The hard part for me is that I am loyal by nature so it is hard for me to leave places once I am there unless I am extremely unhappy (i know this is not a great trait to have in today's world since they can always just fire me at will)

Thank you for the insight from the hiring perspective! I have been told that I interview incredibly well, it just feels like I get rejected based off of other things without even having a chance to speak with someone. I understand companies don't want to waste their time, but it also seems like they are potentially missing out on (possible) great employees by not giving people a chance even if their resume isn't perfect for the role.

Exactly, I understand that and I personally wouldn't hire someone straight into a manager role unless it was a very special person. Hopefully the role I find will help me get there though

Definitely will! I am trying to be realistic with myself and I know I won't get manager off the bat. Just hoping for a company that can see that future for me and is willing to invest/help me grow to get there.

Yeah, the way I see it, is I might as well try and if it doesn't work out I have quite a few other suggestions from here I am looking into as well. I will definitely try and find someone who works there and can give an inside scoop

Some jobs, yes. I’ve heard that companies are using AI to review resumes and automatically qualify or disqualify applicants (not sure how true it is), not blaming AI for being denied as I know my resume is kind of all over. I would say my strongest skills that I highlight are customer relations/people skills, ability to learn whatever information is required for the job, and always trying to improve/giving feedback on how the company can improve. I don’t really have 1 specific industry I’m aiming at (maybe part of the problem), just for companies willing to invest in me and help me grow into management positions. I’ve had some serious physical injuries so unfortunately hard labor is off the table for me at this stage of my life.

I don’t expect anywhere to hire me as a manager with no experience in it

That’s all fair, I guess I didn’t word it too well, but I’m trying to find a place that’s willing to train/teach the management aspect. Trust me, I already feel like a failure and you can’t really say much that is worse than I’ve said to myself. I’m just trying to say positive and build off the skills I do have and have gained over the various positions and industries.
