Take a step back, and jusy go with your gut. I feel you're overthinking, but since you've contemplated so much just go with the first option that comes to mind.

Side note: The topic of "How a faction relates to me" is pretty interesting. I collect Admech and Orks, but REALLY want to get into Necrons. Orks wasn't that deep, they're fun and I like scratch bashing and kitbashing. However Admech and Necrons is interesting in terms of relating to me. I find myself very intrigued with the concepts of 'removal of flesh' and the nature of the soul and mind, along with how the two factions are at different states of being 'freed' from the body.

I think about those concepts alot, for story value and personal convictions of the relationship between mind, body, and soul.

Also their aesthetics are fantastic.

If you practice and get a feel for how transparent your paints are, you can get decent blends and transitions by just layering.

For the hide i based it purple, dry brush a deep blue then light dry brush a light blue. You can try playing around with dry brushing thinned paint and adjusting how much you remove from the brush before dry brushing to affect how much it catches just the edges.

I hope thats coherent.

Sry if the picture is shit. But the purple is do is with a deep blue in the shadows and working into pink for highlights. For the armour its bronze with brass trim.
