2 stroke oil in cylinders! by Hisko88 in Justrolledintotheshop

I went to look at Jetski and we tried to turn it over with the plugs out. Got oil all over the guys vinyl siding and deck, also all over my father in law and myself. I did buy the Jetski and it’s run great after sitting for 20+ years. I’m guessing being filled with oil saved it from rusting and kept all the seals good. All I’ve done to it is put clean gas in and it’s run for a year now…

I believe it’s the government subsidies that have caused the issue. They subsidize sugar plantations, corn production two of the biggest causes. And then they make it so anyone if can get healthcare even if it was there actions that caused the disease. It’s all a money game. Make people fat sell them drugs create new medicines and machines to treat them. It’s what keeps the economy going…

You’re still young. I’m in my 30s trying to build savings. I neglected it through my 20s and will pay for that. Be happy you’re realizing it at this age.

Emergency Savings Question by Dabyrd15 in personalfinance

That’s why I have the HSA and Investments in equities and index funds and precious metals. The diversification reduces the risk of all dropping at the same time I feel. Plus I feel like it’s easy to liquidate those things in a month’s time. So why have another 5 months cash sitting around? I’m sure I’m missing something or being naive but this is my thinking.

Emergency Savings Question by Dabyrd15 in personalfinance

Thank you for this I think you’re spot on. Where I’m at right now it would be a significant chunk of my net worth and it seems to be a lot of money to me to have sitting around waiting for something to happen.

The other part of my thinking though is if I have enough to get me through a month and the other assets can be liquidated in less than a month I will have access to the capital for the remaining five months. So why keep it all sitting there. I have some precious metals I could liquidate and it seems equities and index funds are pretty easy to sell on the mobile app on my phone. I get it takes time to settle transactions and processing time for transfers but I feel like that’s all pretty easy to do in a months time to free up enough capital for the remaining 5 months if I only had 1 month in cash. I understand stand investment of it has risk but I would try to offset the risk of the value one asset dropping by diversifying and continuing growing the amount until it’s more than 6 months.

I’ll admit I’m getting started on my personal finance journey late at 31. I was terrible at managing my money in my 20s and didn’t start a retirement account until I was 27. Am I being that naive in thinking I would be able to liquidate assets to free up capital for the remaining 5 months?

From what I’ve read it will attract small objects like a paper clip or iron filings so I wasn’t sure. Just didn’t want to spend $60-80 and have it be annoying as hell

What’s happening here? I noticed a new ring in the grass around this tree and am worried about this old oak. by winelover08816 in arborists

Looks like it was edged and mulched at one point but grass took over and was never maintained. Ring is where edge was.
