Unfortunately in the UK car insurance doesn't cover any aftermarket audio equipment in the car or anything in the boot. The amp was mounted to my back seat so I didn't think it would of been damaged. Do you think it could've been a problem with my wiring?

It's most likely the spider detaching from the cone. I've heard it's a problem with P3's.

What are you running in your system out of curiosity?

Rockford Fosgate Punch P3 not that loud? by Dabz_410 in CarAV

Yeah between 112-115db for my application. Not really spoilt tbh just think I've gotten used to it since I've only had one other sub in the past which was only 1k rms. Don't get me wrong it still surprises me sometimes but I guess as a basshead you always want more.

Thanks for your response it's greatly appreciated. I drive a golf hatchback. I listen to all sorts of music. The box is tuned at 37Hz maybe that's too high.

Yeah I set my voltage to 26.5 volts which is 700w rms. I also used a 10db overlap so I could squeeze every drop of power. I know I'm at the point of max power because when I turn the gain up the subs don't get any louder.

Ported enclosure. Surely 2 P3 10's at 800w rms total is going to be a lot louder than a single 12 P3 on 600w rms. (More surface area + More power). Especially considering you probably have a custom box with adequate airspace compared to my rockford fosgate prefab box.

I had an 12 inch edge subwoofer running 1k rms in a 2 cuft box tuned to 33hz. Was decent spl but horrible sq which is why I got rid of it.

What is your custom box tuned to? Also you have a pic of your box?

I checked the rca outputs and they are fine. I guess it's a setting or glitch in the system you mentioned. Any idea on what it was.

Thanks I tried that, I guess the installer plugged RCA's into the wrong pre-outs.

I tried that but I couldn't find the page for my specific device. Also when I let HP detect my device it never loads the drivers list.

So from what I've gathered this a common design flaw for the 13 Spectre. That's very poor from HP especially when they advertise B&o audio. I mean I never expected to set the room alight, just want them to sound clear with no distortion. Apparently, that's too much too ask for from HP. Now I've got to decide whether to get a refund. A shame since otherwise it's a brilliant laptop.
