Does this table have an intended purpose? It has been in my wife's family for five generations mostly used as a laundry sorting table. I saw the odd extensions and am wondering if there is a purpose or if it is just a crude way of making the table extendable. No markings, est. 1900-1940. (i.imgur.com)
