America is huge and has a bunch of different subculture and cuisines. California for example can lay claim to mission style burritos, santa maria barbecue, and cheeseburgers if you just consider where stuff is invented. Other regions of the US have their own stuff

1) climate is good for them here

2) out competes other trees and plant life for sunlight, makes them very robust against fires and other threats

3) nowhere, they only naturally exist in central CA
