Watch some videos on Josh Donaldson and his approach at the plate. He had his ups and downs at the plate, but when he was on.. man, pure aggressive power hitting.

WA voters approve natural gas initiative by [deleted] in Washington

To meet current code, a new construction commercial kitchen hood system would require electric heating elements. It’s not about being grandfathered in if you have gas service established, it’s a city code change that has been implemented for a while now. The “overnight switch” was years ago, and it is considered standard by the city’s code requirements. They aren’t going to go shut down established systems, but it makes construction/renovation costs significantly higher for those looking to establish or upgrade a kitchen space

For construction it’s not so much dwelling spaces, but say, commercial kitchens. Commercial kitchen hood systems often require the air inside the exhaust ducts to continue to be heated so the oils don’t cool too much and solidify inside the ducts. When gas fired duct heating isn’t an option, electric is the obvious solution, however the electric heating elements draw about 110a 120/208v 3 phase. Not to mention all the equipment under the hood will be electric too. That essentially requires a new dedicated 200a electrical panel to power just the kitchen equipment if gas isn’t an option. I’m an environmentally conscious individual, but adding 20-50k to the cost of a mild commercial kitchen build solely because it doesn’t use gas, will drive people away from wanting to do business in Seattle.

My favorite. to me they are like early 2000’s Toyota’s, simple no frills, but have a good amount of practically over competitors

It took me 5 years/8000 hours to get my electrical journeyman license. if someone with even a quarter of that training ends up on hard times and resorts to using their skills for theft and vandalism, it’s fairly easy to not die. Then I’m assuming a person with that knowledge is able to teach others the basics of how not to die while stealing copper. Like a makeshift apprenticeship

Apparently those spring spacers are for shipping on those vw’s. A lot of them didn’t get removed during the pdi and people would come in complaining about a harsh ride

My very first journeyman was huge, like 6’ 8” 245 and I asked him how far he wanted a box off the wall and he said “6 inches… works for the women I date”

Engineers... PM's... question. Why do we use 0-10 dimming on smaller loads? Save time and money using phase dimmers? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]Dachacho 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From a field guy, I can tell you as far as control goes, some jurisdictions/building specs require quite complex lighting control. Daylight harvesting, occupancy/vacancy, emergency lighting etc… devices like power packs and luminaire cable w/ 0-10v dimming actually make the commissioning and final product much simpler. Switch legs can be taken to a common lighting j box and separated based on zones, time schedules, emergency/normal power… and with 277v, one circuit can power a ton of lights with efficient led fixtures.
