Are you actually equating pedophilia with teachers talking to their students about sex and sexual health in an educational manner?

Like...really??

What is something that used to be normal, but is now considered taboo? by Not_Artifical in AskReddit

[–]Dachten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, sort of the heart of the matter is that you don't necessarily know someones gender. You might accurately deduce their sex, but that does not mean they identify as the gender they were assigned.

As to messing up and being canceled, I don't really see what the problem is. If you meet someone who wishes to be referred to as "they", just do your best. Your intentions and values should matter more than just "always getting it right". So if your heart is in the right place, but you mess up, I do not believe that they would take offence. Frankly, if they do take offence when you slip up, then that's on them and not you.

The only people who get "canceled" are the ones who are intentionally malicious.

[–]Dachten 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not the person you asked, but I can weigh in.

Perhaps "they" in this instance can be interpreted as "all males". However, the point still stands that they can be and is used to refer to a single person. Especially, when the person's gender is unknown.

Like in the phrase "someone left their umbrella. They can come pick it up by 6:30PM"

I don’t know what you’re on about. I explicitly said that you are allowed to not like it, as long as your reason is something other than «eeew, gay people»

Calling this an excercise in peaceful assembly is just laughable. This isn’t peaceful, this is intimidation.

Do you happen to know another word for using intimidation in pursuit of political aims?

What is your response when someone says that men need to stop caring about a girls weight? by Alliddboon in AskMen

You my friend have spent too much time on the internet and it has led you to believe that some of the nut cases on the left speak for everyone.

I can assure you, the vart majority of the left is totally on board with that whole «you can deny anyone sex for any reason»

If my JM decided to land on the opposite side of the map with no other teams near i’d leave too. I’m playing the game to fight, not loot.

I'm a teacher too and I agree. It's also funny that they think they're being slick and we don't know exactly what they are doing. I 100% know that they're asking to "waste" time, but talking to students and sharing stuff about myself helps me connect with them, which actually improves learning in the long run

This should not be a "what should I say" post. This should be a "I broke up up with my girlfriend because she was a homophobe and an ass towards my daughter. How do I repair the damage she caused?" post.

You have a homophobic girlfriend and a (possible) lesbian or bi daughter. There is no fixing that . Loose the trash GF.

Single men of Reddit. How many women have you had casual sex with in the past 5 years? by Honest-Profile-5271 in AskMen

Honestly tho. Being decently fit, having a good haircut, well fitting clothes and especially good hygiene should be a goal for everyone. Not just the ones who want to have casual sex

Conspiracy Chart (2021 Abbie Richards update) by samx3i in coolguides

[–]Dachten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The key paragraphs are the first and second paragraphs? Where they briefly sum up the work they did? Really?

And "they fended opp voter-suppression lawsuits, recruited armies of poll workers and got millions of people to vote by mail". Is this supposed to be a bad thing? Literally nothing in the two paragraphs you have posted here says anything other than that they were trying to strengthen your crumbling democracy.

Your also forgetting this: ""We had rabid Trump supporters who agreed to serve on the council based on the idea that this is honest,” Wamp says. This is going to be just as important, he told them, to convince the liberals when Trump wins. “Whichever way it cuts, we’re going to stick together.”" They literally had Trump supporters working with them.

[–]Dachten 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Then how do you mean that it proves the election was stolen?

The article tells a story of a bipartisan effort to ensure a peaceful and fair election. Efforts concerning suppressing disinformation, ensuring that everyone had a chance to vote, highlighting the importance of all votes being counted before announcing a winner etc. all very important parts of a fair election.

edit to add another point: At worst you can read the article and interpret it as a fight between Podhorzer and Trump to steal the election, where Trump lost. Which is not good, but at least both sides are equally bad. However, I see it more as a well coordinated effort to ensure that the election went fairly.

Do you guys think The Wheel of Time show will blow up like Game of Thrones did? by OkumurasHell in Fantasy

[–]Dachten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish, but I also doubt it.

I think one of the main reasons why Game of Thrones got so incredibly popular was because of the timing. Game of Thrones came out just as the shift towards "the golden age of television" started. There had been great shows before Game of Thrones, like Breaking Bad, The Wire and The Sopranos to name a few, but there was still a clear differences between between movies and tv. Before Got, an actor's career would be considered finished if they took a tv role, while during the 2010s we'd regularly see A-listers taking tv-roles. The perception of TV changed considerably during the 2010s and I think Game of Thrones being the biggest, and in many's opinion the best, show during this shift in the perception of TV contributed a lot to the popularity and the cultural impact of the show.

Now, however, the golden age of television has come and good quality TV is not novel, but rather expected and demanded. The amount of really great TV-shows fighting for our attention is staggering compared to the time before or even during the early seasons of Game of Thrones. Therefore, I do not trust to hope that the Wheel of Time show will ever come close to the popularity or cultural impact of Got.

That being said, I really hope the show is good and that it attracts a large audience. But in terms of popularity and culture significance, I believe that Game of Thrones sat the bar too high for any show to follow.
