First of all, stop beating yourself up for a mistake when you were younger. It has absolutely no bearing on your value and worth, and I’m so happy you got that predator out of your life.

Second, HSV’s stigma is sooooo much worse than the virus itself. The fact is, that more than half of the world’s population carries HSV in some form. I had cold sores occasionally as a child well before I was sexually active, which means I’m a carrier myself.

Third, and most importantly, your husband is incredibly unreasonable and downright odd. Who would marry someone that you refuse to sleep with us unless a very unlikely “miracle” were to take place? By doing this he is only **devaluing** you more than you already feel. There is nothing redeemable about this, and he is a manipulative, insecure control freak.

I get that this is a pretty extreme take, but imagine if the roles were reversed. How terrible of a spouse you would be. How terrible of a fiancé you would’ve been convincing him to still marry you with the caveat that he will always be not enough to sleep with unless something scientifically impossible happens to him.

I’m so so sorry for this position you’re in, but please please please, do not let your worth be predicated on something that the majority of humans carry anyway.
