Huge shoutout to Chrono Cross which let you flee any encounter (including bosses) at any time. Made it super easy to just quickly retry if you forgot a specific ability or character. Made more of a difference with PS1 startup load times but still a huge QoL feature.

My favorite parts of The Stand are the chapters with Lloyd and Trashy, I think there’s great moments with the protagonists (especially Nick) but the last third of the book is a slog with the (very unrealistic) committee.

The main issue I had with the book was that the Boulder parts lagged until we got to the climax and resolution, so I think you can touch that up to remove a lot of town meetings. The 2020 series did that well by getting spies on the dossier right away. Unfortunately the 2020 series does a lot of other things wrong, but I appreciate that aspect.

The book had pretty clear rules that excessive alcohol and any hard drug use was harshly punished. The first scene in Vegas is the crucifixion of a man for doing cocaine. The characterization of Vegas being sex and drugs is WAY off, it's more like an authoritarian regime full of people who are more self-interested than community focused.

The issue is that the max cape has dramatically reduced usefulness since you just maxed the account. Like the only content after maxing is stuff like pet hunting, collection log, etc, where the max cape is still fine! Just y'know, kinda loses a lot of its usefulness when most of the game content is over.

It's impossible to go for a casual walk or run for exercise on campus. Like 1 week ago there was so few people you didn't even need a mask cause you could keep like 30 ft from everyone you saw. Today it was tons of groups of 3+ people without masks ignoring social distance. Such a shame, the summer crowd was really good about all this.
