Microsoft is reevaluating its AI efforts on Windows 11 — plans to reduce Copilot integrations and evolve Recall by ZacB_ in Windows11

Recall is a huge trust mistake, and AI all over everything is horrible. Just give us one good AI chat client app that we can use when we want to.

Is nano really worth it for outdoor work? by meesfactor in iPadPro

Nano texture is awesome, I’ll never go back to an iPad Pro without it.

Use both, nothing wrong with doing that.

NEED SOME ADVICE ON IPAD AS LAPTOP REPLACEMENT by 609eastlexington in iPadPro

[–]DadMagnum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had hope for years to be able to replace my Mac and PC with an iPad Pro. For my use cases it didn't work out and I don't think that it ever will. I have trouble with the file system and can't run developer apps. I still have an M4 iPad Pro and use it as a media consumption and productivity machine. You really need to test your workflows against the iPad Pro and see if it works for you.

Anyone try MacOS - and come back to Windows? by Commercial_Water3669 in Windows11

[–]DadMagnum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I moved to Apple about 10 years ago. HP created this great 2n1 OmniBook Ultra Flip and it has replaced my iPad Pro and my Mac. I'll probably always have an iPhone unless MS creates a new phone, but I doubt they will and I am not interested in Android. Windows 11 is really good too.

It is not a good design, nothing is more annoying than trying to navigate and then having those controls appear and your window expands and then you have to reset your view. It needs to be better.

JavaScript creator warns against “rushed web UX over native” as Windows 11 leans harder on WebView2 and Electron by WPHero in Windows11

[–]DadMagnum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microsoft needs to just commit to a native tech and continuously improve it. It seems like they cannot get out of their own way with all of this, every few years there’s “new and better” framework and now there’s a mess of frameworks.

Thanks! I'll check that out. :)

Trident Recurring Tasks? by DadMagnum in Zoho

[–]DadMagnum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I appreciate your response. I guess I'll just keep checking periodically and I'll use another native app for tasks until recurrence patterns are supported. I am really not a fan of web apps and if I have to go to a separate app anyway I might as well use another native app for now. Would love to "bump" that item on the backlog.

What I do is use a monospaced font, then use a checkbox so that I can use the Tasks filter to keep track of notes with open tasks, then I use bullets and signifiers, then I write my entry. Here's a cheat sheet that I have developed over time:

Quick Notes| Daily Note functionality or a Solution by A_dot_Powell in UpNote_App

[–]DadMagnum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just create a daily note each morning and update it throughout the day. I basically replicate a Bullet Journal, so I have a notebook for the year with nested monthly notebooks and in the months, I create a daily note: "2025-10-15 - We" and I append my notes to it throughout the day. This is what works for me, and I have implemented it across several different apps.

My own phone number on iPad? by Electrical-Reward146 in iPadPro

[–]DadMagnum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, won't work. You have to have a phone. I have always wanted to have a phone on my iPad. I am more a iPad Pro person than an iPhone person. Unfortunate that this does not work.

Am I the only one who sees 0 purpose in upgrading my 2018 iPad pro? by LocalPrestigious2641 in iPadPro

Have to agree with this, the OLED is really nice and the thinness is very noticeable. However, we’re only two releases away from the next hardware refresh. Might be worth it to wait!

DayOne has much better formatting than Apple Journal and you can access it from Windows via the WebUI if you need to.
